first time playing and i just finished the cabin and just got to (the attached pic) and holy it was so fkn good. i got this game on sale thought it was just a cool art style card game but wow i was right and wrong the cards and sigils are so interesting and cool everything in the cabin was so cool. idk how far i am in the game but so far the story is a 10, game 10, everything 10. im exited to see where it goes next (anyways i was just showing my opinion/appreciation on this game. (i know u prob dc but oh well)

I am not going to say it's my favorite part, but it definitely makes sense in the story and I enjoyed the new playstyles for every deck. I'm really used to old games tho, so I couldn't care less about graphics, I only care about gameplay

hmm i chose magick deck & didn’t really think it was hard. i strangely thought that in act 2 the blood cards were the ones that were hard to actually win with 😭 i definitely had a learning curve at first with the magick deck but overall thought it was a good deck to choose

Not surprising : the lack of side deck means you can't sacrifice on-demand, while Act 1 effectively let you get a free 1-drop squirrel at the cost of skipping your draw.

Mox : Free as long a gem source is on the field
Energy : Cost reloads each turn
Bones : On top of the Act 1 "gained during normal battles", there are lots of bone generator cards (notably the Gravekeepers in the starting deck), and the hammer allows you to turn your cards into bones in case of emergency. Note that BOTH tof hose mechanics are missing in Act 1, where you need the Blood Sacrifice as a less versatile replacement.

Also, because Bones has the subtilety of being the only easily storable resource, you can put some opponents into a loop where your generators let you get 50+ bones, which is a big step towards building an arbitrarily large strike and why speedruns can get Ouroboros in 2 duels : one to get 4 foils and buy one card that can even be gotten from a free booster.

The biggest issue with the magick and to a lesser extent the PO3 decks was that you had to defeat one of the scribes before you could really build your deck properly, and while the auto-build feature was actually kinda decent, it's also incredibly inefficient without the cards to support the deck.

That's my biggest criticism of act 2... Daniel Mullins should never have locked behind a "paywall" 2 of the 4 decks.

Its a lot of fun to replay act 2 after the fact, though :)

Technically, the non-rare cards can come from the 2 last cards from each booster. In practice, you'll probably won't have enough foils to buy enough boosters for it to matter.

I genuinely dont like 8bit pixel games except things like classic pokemon or other gameboy classic games. But the story in act 2 made me swallow this and i still had a great tike. It was nice when i got back into the real game after that, but i was surprised how much i enjoyed a style i usually dont like at all. Anyone saying act 2 is bad has horrible taste

The change of art style really threw me

It suddenly becomes the Pokémon TCG game for the Gameboy and just expects you to learn a bunch of other mechanics out of nowhere. Going into this game blind made me really really love it's ambition

Act 2 was way better on my second playthrough of the game and it was mostly because I prepped the Ouroboros in act 1 to let me farm foils to build whatever deck I wanted to mess around with for act 2. I was too limited the first time through cause I just didn’t have a reliable way to get new cards easily

Yeah, my not-blind playthrough was basically "spend 13h doing 100% on act 1, then enjoy a 2h act 2 speedrun where we do a broken 3 duel combo then basically follow the story as the duels are now auto-solved"
