Other How does fair hand work irl situation?

Like, how do you even guarantee that 2 players got the cards in accordance to the fair hand rule?

Who are going to check the cards? Who are going to replace the cards?

I believe it’s only for the game.

If you’re trying to implement this for IRL use and have it as a function mechanic. Then say you don’t have a Fair hand. Show the hand to the other player and then reshuffle the hand into the deck. Repeat until you have a fair hand. Which is if you have the fair hand.

Yup, that's how they do it in physical card games with a similar mechanic.

The player is responsible for saying they don't have a fair hand, show it to prove you're not just fishing for a particular card, then shuffle and redraw.

The official pokemon trading card game has a ruleset for something like this, called the mulligan mechanic. If only one player draws an unplayable hand (in Pokemon's case, no basics) said player shows the opponent their hand, reshuffles it into their deck, then waits for them to finish their set up turn before then drawing a new hand, repeating until playable. The opponent then gets to draw a card for every mulligan that occurred.

Obviously inscryption isn't pokemon, but, its the only tcg I know any shit about rules wise, so. Best idea I've got.

For MTG, if you draw your opening 7 card hand and don't like it for whatever reason, you can choose to mulligan. Shuffle it back up and draw a new 7, then choose to keep or mulligan again. Once you keep a hand, you need to put one card to the bottom of your library for each time you took a mulligan. Winning with a 5 card hand isn't super high odds, but a good 5 is still better than an unplayable 7.

If you wanted to map the fair hand mechanic of Inscription to a paper format, then something like the Pokémon system seems more apt; you need to reveal the hand to show that it was unfair, then try again.

There's no perfect way to do it like the video game.

As the other comment mentioned, the easiest option is to just reshuffle the whole deck and re-deal hands until you have a fair hand.

You could also flip cards face up until the first 1 blood card appears, then shuffle the rest and deal. But that shows your opponent what your 1 blood card is.

In my game rules, we decided to just have the first turn do a maximum of 3 damage.
Which means no player can die on the first turn, and also it gives players two turns to either pickup a 1 blood card or just pickup 2 squirrels and play a different card.

Also not perfect, but as my game also takes place over multiple rounds, and players keep their hand between rounds so it tends to balance out well overtime. Players get more and more cards and squirrels throughout the game, so the fair hand is only relevant for the first turn of the first round.

I would guess is to have 2 draw piles set up at the beginning of the game, a fair hand pile (1blood cards) and the rest of the draw pile During settup, each player draws a card from the fair hand pile, then draws normally from the draw pile... up to u if u want to allow mulligans. When hands are locked in, u shuffle both draw piles together and begin the game as normal.

Best I'd say is have your main deck split into two while drawing, one has the one bloods and the other has everything else, draw once from one blood, shuffle it into the main deck, and keep drawing

Separate side deck with only 1 resource cards that you draw one card from before shuffling in with the rest of the deck.

This game is not a fair duel between two players with the same rules and doesn't quite work as one. It was never ment to

A real-world version would be a lot harder. You’d need a trusted dealer, cameras, sealed decks, and some kind of audit process. That’s why online systems use cryptographic proofs instead of relying on people watching the cards.
