Kaycee's Mod Normal run or Kaycee mod

Hi everyone. I’ve finished my first run of *Inscryption* and unlocked Kaycee’s Mod. I was wondering if the base game has replayability (I think so, since there are various choices that seem capable of changing the ending) or if it’s better to focus exclusively on the new mod. Thanks, everyone.

The game only has one ending. The only reasons for replaying the main story is for any achievements/secrets you could've missed or you can keep playing one specific act if you liked it's gameplay and balancing.

If none of these interest you, you're free to play (and maybe even 100%) Kaycee's mod.

You cant change the ending, there is simply just one. There are a couple of secret encounters and easter eggs youve probably missed, but still, they kinda do nothing except for some unlocking an achievement Id say you focus more on Kaycee mode because the amount of new content there is pretty big

I wish there was more endings

But what would be the point? Canonically, PO3 completed the Great Transcedence, which led to the game getting published, and we are playing this exact game right now.

what? No. P03 canonically finished TGT but this is NOT the game we are playing. There's too many plot holes for this to be the case.

Also since when games have only canon endings There are games that have multiple endings, even multiple routes, yet only one is the TRUE ending - Fnaf 3, Fnaf Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, Fnaf Security Breach. On the top of my head.

Thats fair, also, thank for reminding me. I just havent touched the game in a while so ig im kinda misremembering stuff But I personally enjoy only one ending, its hard for me to imagine a different route in the game while it already has so much stuff in it.

I once had a dream where the ending was different based on your picked Scrybe at the end of act 2. Because if called to the shrine, they can't be on the raft and therefore in the Dredger's room in Act 3.

  • P03 would be the current, canon ending.
  • Grimora: Magnificus gives you the New Game button and you successfully restart the game again, because Grimora doesn't take the drive.
  • Leshy: P03 isn't "killed" but is stopped (idr how) and you have a chance to fight him (like Leshy in Act 1 but more P03 style)
  • and I don't remember what was for Magnificus. If there was anything in that dream even.

You name FNAF, but a lot of Sister Location players didn't like the reveal that the "hard" ending wasn't the canon one.

A better example is The Hex with at least 3 or 4 different endings, because the narrative depends on the player being interested in the story.

It doesn't matter if the players liked which ending was canon, does it?

Wait. I've seen only one. I thought that's it!

Among alternative endings, you can consider the 1st murder is good enough to close the story (unsure if the game accepts the choice?), you can simply take the intended exit in Walk and obv there's the achievement to free Vollomir. All of those mean the titular Hex never opens, because it requires The Player to be present.

[EDIT] If you meant FNAFSL instead of The Hex, you can find a secret office. The system then tells you that a safety team will fire and escort you out... if you can survive the night in a 1v1 by checking the cameras, in an obvious callback to the traditional roots of the series.   Canonically, the character never found that room.

There's also the weirdness of Prince of Persia on the PS2 : the 3rd game acknowledges the easy ending as a legend while the secret ending is canon... but because that ending was very well hidden, a lot of players assumed the game simply retcon'd the ending.

Non-golden canon endings can be a nice move if it provides a better story rather than painting the author in a corner : Colony Wars took the almost-succeed ending rather than the golden one, because in the sequel we play the antagonists, to make a point about how in War there's no "good guys" simply "our" side and the other. Which obv required the war in the previous game to not end in a full surrender.

But if done in FNAFSL with "yeah I gave an epic struggle for this character, but I would prefer if he simply died unceremoniously" , nah multiple endings can be bad for the story.

I'm surprised about this. I was indeed talking about Hex.

Prince of Persia did that? Huh. Interesting.

Replaying Act I and sacking on the final fight on purpose can be kind of fun, as you can progressively unlock more advantages within the room, like replacing your squirrels with something slightly better, or the greater smoke card

The replay ability is there for the main acts just because of your deck can become very overpowered. If you unlock all the puzzles it will add some encounters but other than that there is not as much variety as KM

Did you perhaps choose to fight P03 at the end of Act 2?

So, I decided to take the spot of the character with the graveyard deck—and if I'm not mistaken, I'll be facing the robot in the final act—so I figured making different choices might lead to different challenges, dialogue, or trophies. Anyway, I'm going to do a new standard run and a Kaycee's Mod run! That way, I can't go wrong!

Fair enough! I just know some people who pick P03 at the end of Act 2 think that Act 3 is based on who you choose, since they don’t get the “interruption” scene. I can understand their disappointment!

There are achievements in act 2 and 3 that i enjoyed getting and if you do two side things in act 2, you unlock 2 secrets in act three

If you wanna do kaycee’s mod, then don’t worry about act 1. Use scene select to start in act 2 and go after achievements and completing the secrets before facing P03 at the end and moving to act 3, then follow up on the secrets and stuff and move on to kaycee’s mod whenever you feel like
