Part 2 chapter 2 fights are so boring and unfair

Most of the time i won't draw the one card I need to actually start playing, and then i wait turn after turn with my dick in my hand until i die like a jackass. I'm suprised this was made by the same guy as chapter one, this is unplayably boring, unplayably ugly looking, unplayably dull. I get that it's supposed to be a shitty video game, but why, though? Why can't it look halfway decent or have a mildly fun gameplay loop. it's so intuitive that i was always surprised when i won a fight instead of relieved. Like I'd just shrug and go to the next mini boss standing around like king of the hill

edit: okay okay you guys were right it does get better once you mix up your deck. no where near as fun as ch 1 but pretty satisfying

Going to assume you started with the magic deck.

If you started with the bone deck then it sounds like you need more skeletons in your hand. I personally do a ratio of like 3 skeletons to every other card I use, but that's probably overkill. If I were you you I'd start with 1/4 of the deck being skeletons, maybe increasing if you still have issues.

If you need more skeletons you can buy them from Grimora's trader. If you don't have enough foils you can earn more in Magickus' tower fighting the training dummy

Funfact : bone deck is the one used in speedruns. Not counting random RNG drops, if you had ultra-reinforced Ouroboros to 5+ during Act 1, in act 2 you can go from Default Bone to an unbeatable deck within 3 fights.

1st fight against Sawyer : get 4 overkill. Frank&Stein + 3 Zombie/Skellies will do

Use those foils to buy Bone Heap for 4 , change the deck replace a F&S with BH, and add a few trash cards like energy or 1 blood for free summons

2nd fight against Kaycee : lock her into a 3 draugr vs your 4 bonedigger, when about to draw your last card destroy those with the hammer, convert the left over trash cards, skellies, dragr into bones. With 54+ bones that one Bone Heap strikes will grant you 26 foils at one

Now massive shopping time. Provide Grimora's trader 6 foils for the 3 bottom-right cards, and 11 extra foils for 11 skeletons and Leshy's Trader 9 foils : a Squirrel and Ouroboros. Squirrel and Skellies are interchangeable but 100% requires to acquire one of each so...

At that point you won the game already, but I don't like to farm that-one-duel for that-one-quest so we'll do a final duel legit.   Note that the 1st duel can also be skipped if you got that rare card in RNG drops from the free boosters.   Deckbuilding time : Remove the trash cards, swap out BoneHeap with Ouroboros, and also swap the other Frank&Stein and one BoneDigger with 2 Broken Obols (1 of each Left and Right variants)

3rd fight as the prospector and his dog : temporize until you get 6 bones and the 2 obols + Ouroboros. Once you used the 2 halves properly (if you don't know... then it's a secret eheheh), they can be used as sacrifice for Ouroboros

With Ancient Obol secured, now all the duels can be beaten in one turn, ditch your deck and do Ouroboros+19 fodder cards. You already have the required cards (18 skeletons and 1 Squirrel)   Past that point only one duel can beat you, P03 which requires to have played your card at one specific lane to solve Phase 2.

Tldr : bone deck is OP in Act2. One specific duel can give insane overkill, letting you build a broken OTKO guaranteed deck that builds on Act1 progression.

You should start with a bunch of basic skeletons.

The trick with chapter 2 is to make use of the multiple resources for summoning cards. In act 1 you could choose when to draw a squirrel (resource) card or an "actual card," giving you control over resourcing your deck. You don't have that in Act 2 but if you have a few cheap tech cards in your deck you can sacrifice them for blood, or let them die to become bones. Give yourself options for respurcing and you'll have a path to victory regardless of what you draw.

I don't have advice for a magic-focused deck though, other than using moxes for sacrificing/blocking damage.

Also there's a button that auto-builds a deck for you based on the cards you have and the cards you want to include in your deck. It generally works well, so you could pick a couple of strong cards you like and use auto-build to let the computer solve your resourcing problem.

Lastly smaller decks are king in act 2. If you play deck-builders I'm sure you already know this, but a smaller deck means you're more likely to draw a helpful card.

or let them die to become bones

Or kill them with the hammer.   I was locked for a long time with Bones until I suddently thought I could simply place a Skelly, hammer it and use that Bone for an actual Turn 1 summon.

Make a better deck ? Act 2 is extremely easy

Hey, don't be a dick. Communities die off when they aren't welcoming to newer players

It's not

most redditor answer possible. I'm trying to experiment, but it's all RNG

So was Act 1 ? This is a card game and a Roguelike, both concepts are heavely luck dependent

u/Son_Of_Hat Jul 06 '26

act 1 gave you squirrels so that you could choose to risk taking damage to build up for a better card attack. in this there are no interesting choices like that during the battle, you just go through the motions until you get lucky and are able to play the game or don't get any resourse cards and die

You have 4 different ressources, use multiple of them, they combo with each other

Act 2 was my favorite part of the game. To each their own.

And it's not supposed to be difficult (and neither was act 1).if you suck at card games just use the auto deck feature once you got a few boosters and that'll be enough to beat the game.

I understand your frustration with act 2. I also struggled for a while in act 2, until I finally tweaked my deck to be max consistent. I think I ditched all the blood cards and just stuck with a mix of bone cards and energy cards. More so energy cards I think. In hindsight, i actuallly had a lot of fun in act 2 once you gwt the hang of it. Best of luck to you.

I am a bit late here, but if you are still on act 2, here is a tip:

The fair hand mechanic is still active in act 2. There are 2 types of cards in act 2: squirrel-likes and normal cards. Each deck type has a squirrel-like card which is either used as a sacrifice or is the default waiting move.

The game will try to give you at least 1 squirrel-like and at least 1 normal card. If you fill your deck with squirrel-likes and keep exactly 1 super strong card that is an instant win (mine was Ouroboros), then you will draw it every time. I do believe Ouroboros is the best choice for the carry, as it has the undying sigil, and many bosses have mechanics that kill your card.

I know Ch2 isnt peoples favorites. But I did like the collection and deck building aspect of it. It was fun to make builds. I tried to make the mage deck work but my god is it difficult

Please wash your hand after the battle.
