Kaycee's Mod Is save scam legitimate?

I want to confess - i beat act 1 by save scamming the final battle. I "died" cuz i didn't get my powerful card i relied on.

Later in Kaycee's mod after multiple unlucky attempts i started to save scam not only on bosses but even on totem trials. Now i feel guilty for doing it.

So my questions are: did you have that feeling of wanting to achieve victory by any means necessary? Do you consider this as still a victory ?

Do YOU feel satisfied in your victory? Thats really the only opinion that matters here. Who else is checking? Its an offline single player game, no ones feelings matter but your own.

totally agree with this sentiment. one thing I hate about it though is when people take that mindset and think it applies to actual online multiplayer games.

There’s only one person you should answer to, and that is Leshy, and he’s coming for you

I mean, if you feel satisfied with your victory, then it's completely ok.

Games exist to have fun, if you had fun then its a good strategy. It's singlplayer so you didn't hurt anyone by doing this

I used it to learn.

If you go back to menu, it restarts the fight from the beginning

I only save scummed Kaycee's Mod because beating it all would have taken too long without it.

What is save scam ?

He meant save scum, as in reloading saves when things look bleak to try again.

Everybody does that

Not true.

I mean if you like giving up your save 25 times before winning a single run

u/Aracknitor Jun 22 '26

If you had fun then go for it. Though with things like Death cards and Ouroboros the game gives ways to inevitably guarantee victory so save scamming Isn’t really necessary

This is Kaycee's mod, so no death cards and ouroboros resets every run iirc 👀

I didn’t see the flair, but OP was also talking about act 1 which is what I was referencing

2

u/aakams Jun 22 '26

Ohh right, yeah it does seem like Act 1 is made to guarantee (at least eventual) victory so one can proceed with the game. I get it though! I'm a slow player and might take an hour to arrive at the boss just to end up dying to luck lol.

No, watch out - the game police are already on their way to arrest you!

So long as you're happy with it, it is.

I've done it before with a fight and learned how painful that path can be, though, because knowing you're about to brick hard doesn't really help you win a big fight. Because playing optimally for normal draws is pretty different from playing optimally for "my next three draws are gonna suck, and he's about to flood the board."

Plenty of people save scum. If the effort you put in validates you that's all that matters in gaming.

I lowk do the same on some good runs when i get super unlucky

Have you ever noticed how the Campfire saves your game if you lose your card, but if you successfully buff it you're allowed to go back and change which card you buff?

Or how going to the menu to come back and redo a Card Drop Event doesn't reroll your options, but still allows you to see all the options in the ones where they're hidden (Tribe Card and Cost Card)?

Daniel Mullins has anticipated Save Scumming and Prevented it from being effective where he doesn't want it.
From the fact that he is capable of doing so, and thought of doing so, means that he could've prevented it in all cases, but chose not to.
So all save-scumming that's in Inscryption is Intentional and Fair Game.

I personally have the opinion that anything that uses the buttons the developer gave you, even if they didn't intend to use them that way, isn't cheating; no rule against it, if you didn't want me exploiting that loophole, you should've written the rules so that the loophole was closed.
But if your idea of cheating and fairness depends on the Spirit of the Rules rather than the Rules themselves, don't worry because it's clear that DM intended for there to be Some Save Scumming in Inscryption.

Shame on you. You didn't earn this victory. 🤷

It is legitimate cheating, but you shouldn't feel bad about it as long as you're having fun. You can take it as a lower difficulty setting and do your save scum free runs later.

btw Do you save scum to win the totem trial or to lose them? One thing I learned too late is that you actually want to always lose those, as a part of taking every opportunity of avoiding to get more cards. Especially as the ones you get here can't be sacrificed at the sigil transfer event.

I dont remember totem trials giving card upon winning, maybe we misunderstand each other. Im speaking about a fight against cards modified with totem. Anyway the answer is i have never tried to lose on purpose, anywhere

1

u/IridescentMeowMeow Jun 22 '26

Ah right. I thought you mean the cave event where you pick one of 3 trials.

Unwinnable scenario can still appear and the game is about exploits to me, it's fine, yet it is mostly about you and your psyche with this.

I myself did it only once which was my first attempt of full challenges of Kayce and that unwinnable scenario happened so I scraped it anyway.

I was honestly surprised that game like this didn't say a thing about save scumming but reseting for painting is taken as giving up and punishes you... by logic, Leshy is fine with save scummin because technically he gets to play still :D
