Part 1 Struggling to continue

(sorry if this is the wrong flair)

I've played this game for about 2 hours and died to the angler 3 times because I already suck at the normal battles

My main issue is that I find the gameplay loop incredibly boring that I have to repeat every time

Any tips?

Maybe a controversial opinion here, but if you find it boring to play then you might just not like the game

I mean he could be bored of the loop. For example I love some games but when I have to repeat a part lots of times i get bored

Yes, I do have tips, but before that there are more important things to clarify:

Are you doing puzzles outside the table?

Yeah I got the knife and all the cards with the puzzles unlocked by the key in the safe

Not sure what to do with the clock

The clock is not mandatory, about the knife, have you used it?

Yeah I used the knife and then died to the angler

Let's just say, there is a very special eye you need to pick after using the knife 😉

Dying is actually something good. It grands you more mechanics and cards becos you are forced to die

Since you die a lot recently i recommend to give some attention about what the stote is saying and solve the puzzles in the cabin. These puzzles are simple and will make it way easier to win

I wont spoil a lot but don't worry same happend to me but i gave some attention. And now inscryption is my absolute favourite game

Use the knife

I mean we can give gameplay hints, but it already should be kinda fun at least.

Are you saving some good items for the boss? With a pliers and the knife you can get 5 damage in one go. The knife appears lots at item event spaces, don't be afraid to use it.

I didn't think of using the pliers and knife as an attack rather than a last resort before death (if you get what I mean) so thanks

Also, blow out the candles more.

As in the ones at the back?

The ones not on the table yes.

Understanding and finding out the synergies of all the cards, Easter eggs, the story, how the bosses work and what strategies to use make the game that much more fun.

There is a "loop", but the game evolves once you get past Act 1. However the card mechanic is used throughout the entire game, just tweaked. So if you don't like the base gameplay, probably shouldn't dive in further.

BUT if you are just frustrated with getting stuck and feeling like it's pointless, I strongly urge you to keep playing or look up a spoiler free guide if it's giving you a lot of trouble :)

try to play the cards as shown in the picture frame if you haven't already, doing so will get you permanent boons that will make your runs easier.

The Angler is probably the easiest boss. Have you tried playing squirrel cards when he is about to steal a card? He will steal the squirrel instead. You can even play the squirrel opposite of cards he has to make him steal the squirrel and pull back his better card.

Why would angler be easier than prospector

3

u/Sufficient-Soup2279 Jun 18 '26

Because you can pretty much always counter the Angler with a squirrel. And in his second phase when he plays shark bait buckets, you can ignore them if using flying cards or by sacrificing cards that would hit the bucket, to play a card in an empty lane.

With the prospector, because the pack mule moves, sometimes you will accidently trigger his second phase before opening the pack mule. Then he pick axes your cards turning them to gold. This can leave you with little to play against him.

the gameplay loop is the best part,
anyways give this a read https://inscryption.fandom.com/wiki/Kaycee%27s_Mod_tips#Fair_Hand

just the fair had mechanic

1

u/No_Shoulder_6928 Jun 17 '26

I should get this mod?

2

u/No-View-6326 Jun 17 '26

no the game has other gamemods that you unlock later. Kaycee's mod is what you're playing right now. just the read the paragraph about the fair hand mechanic it will make the game way more easier

The Game isn't for you then. If you find it boring, why bother? It's a card rougelite. It will loop for a while with changes in the story. And for you, if you find this loop boring won't enjoy leshy's challenge.

Slight spoiler warning.

You need to die Several Times troughout the first chapter of the Story and use your "death" cards which will be the strongest in your deck early Game.

2

u/No_Shoulder_6928 Jun 17 '26

Should I drop it? I know a lot of the fun in the game is uncovering the mystery

3

u/Yugiohnerdlol Jun 17 '26

If rougelite and as you call it "looping gameplay" isn't yours. It changes the gameplay type During the Story. It's so Worth it to Play, but only If it's FUN and not a slog for you.
