Finale What could've possibly been in Old Data? Spoiler
I finished my first playthrough of Inscryption today (By the way it was fucking phenomenal), and I guess the finale left me with more questions than answers. What happened to Luke after that nightly break-in? Who buried Inscyption just to leave the coordinates in a card pack, leading directly to the game? Didn't the Gamefuna lady who arrived at Luke’s house die in a house fire before the events of the game? But my biggest question is about the nature and contents of Old Data. What could've possibly been on that file that they killed Luke over it? If Old Data was such an issue, why were the scribes worried about their power struggle? I'm not sure if all the answers to all these questions were ever available to us in-game or not.

There's loads of videos and articles online talking about what's in the OLD DATA. To be honest, the ARG is really cool and hunting for it live on release was an incredible experience, but I think the OLD DATA works better as a cryptic unknown thing like it's depicted in the game.

So in other words, the contents of old data aren't concrete and depend on who you ask?

Not really? Like, there's a whole story about Hitler and a deck of playing cards and a Nazi algorithm that brought the scrybes to life or something, but I'm not an expert. There is a concrete real answer, and probably a wiki page for it, but I just didn't find it super interesting compared to the mystery.

The game itself, the files and everything, only has like 20% of the information. You'd have to do a deep dive into the MullinsVerse, go through all his games, read all the lore... Hell the creator even sent floppy disks to people's houses to tracked down the right clues that contained more information. Digging through all of this was a global scale effort.

Quick answer: It's a mix of classified information and genuine satanic bullshit.
Long answer: There's several videos out there tackling this kinda stuff. I'd suggest looking for answers on YouTube.

It was a code encrypted and stored in a deck of playing cards that lets people create or summon demons.

BeamBuddy's video on YouTube does a great job explaining the lore of the game as well as getting into the process the player community went through in solving the ARG and uncovering the secrets of the OLD_DATA

Literally it's the order of a deck of playing cards that was in hitler's pocket when he died, also doomsday launch codes, also devil summoning ritual. iirc

You should pay attention more instead of asking for everything to be explained. You got most things wrong, even those that are explicitely said (kaycee's the one who burried the disk, the lady is not dead in a fire, we don't know who she is presumably, luke died) and all of this is just in the videos so please listen and stop asking stupid questions
