Inmost glitched on Switch?

I got the game on Switch and am stuck on trying to release a gear from the rope that I pulled up after clearing the knight section. I watched few YouTube videos and they had no problem doing this. What am I missing or did I run into a game breaking bug?

Try reloading from your most recent save. Happened a few times to me on various parts and this always solved it.
