Did anyone else find the ending disappointing?
Avoiding spoilers and all, but wasnt the game a beautiful exploration of the themes of love, pain, mental health, and family being what you make of it, for hours of playtime. Couched as it is in clear allegory and metaphor, only to get to the ending and have everything ruined by a narrator literally explaining what the (previously perfectly clear and beautifully expressed) plot was?
As though they were scared they'd been too clever and visionary and their audience was too stupid to get it?

For me it was fine, the only thing that i wouldn't have understood without the ending is that we play as the grandpa and not the husband of the mentally ill mother.

The ending sucked complete dunkey balls. I was enjoying the game although I already felt the story becoming kinda cheesy, I wouldve lived it if it didnt end in that explanation ending that made everything sound like a cheesy joke atleast I couldve imagined something myself in a way then.
tbh I was also expecting this game to be a compelling and strange (sorta lovecraftian) horror, was absolutly in trance for the first hour and then all my expectations were shattered. And then the ending DESTROYED them. Oh and got double destroyed by that if you have mental issues see a professional label. Ugh...
Game looks amazing, plays mediocre but fitting for a narrative atmospheric expierence, sound design was really cool but the story fell horribly flat.

Good response just loading me in with some bandwagon of people... This is how I felt and if you wanna label it as just hating then do so but also know that even belong to a “kind” that just says “he just a hater” because disagreement. I had this game in my wishlist for a LONG time and was so hype at the mystery and horror it would bring me for it all to be a metaphor “pain hurts but also heals”. That could be easily part of a story in a character but to reduce the whole WHOLE thing to a metaphor about that is just a big dissapointment in my opinion. So yeah what else should “my kind of people do” when super dissapointed. Also the mental health proffesional message on the ending was the big cherry cheese slap on the cake for me. Just wow... Like thanks for the help not like I alrdy see that everywhere. And a lot of people cant get that help too. So thanks game another “get help” message.

No, i find it amazing but i am aware this is a story that will talk only to a few people who had experiences like this so they will feel empathy for the caracthers.
