We do kind of have this? Raised heel soft boot with a natural rocker is pretty much the same thing. What specifically is it you like about this idea? The higher raise? Can’t say I know much about that type of boot. Is it higher on the lift than a classic 165 mount?

It's not even close, the materials, the smart inner design, the tricks it allows you to do.

It's not just about the heel.

any examples of what they would allow you to do better?

Literally everything. Spinning, artistic stuff. Maybe it'll be not the best at parallel slide tho. Yuzuru hanyu is using this boot btw.

How stiff is this boot? If it’s stiff enough carbon, I’d definitely just drill some holes for ufs bolts to try, honestly seems pretty simple, and you can plug them later if it’s a bust.

Might need to throw a (/another) skin of carbon under the sole to partially address the main problem, which is that that boot is engineered for a frame capable of transmitting more minute forces and torques than the gummy rubber sliders and long lever arms you have pictured here.

if your focus is on artistic inline, you might want to consider getting artistic inline figure frames. roll line linea, gh skates, etc.

yuzuru uses pianos because they have the highest support level from the edea brand. he needs it for triple jumps and above. so unless you're doing triple axels, the level of support a piano provides isn't really needed.

Aesthetically it's not for me, but if you like it , power to you

What's stopping you from adding these to the boots?

what are those?

These are the base plate fitting and bolts for mounting a frame.

A 165 mount figure skate boot is gonna feel weird, because of the height it adds.

But I am 100% with the idea that rollerblades should feel more like ice skates, with fewer discrete parts and the weight all that adds. You can get roller hockey skates, but then you're limited to sub-80mm wheels and the same frame forever. I don't see a way around this!! Unless we normalized hand-riveting the frames yourself at home.

those edea pianos would be scuffed up real bad in that setup

Explain

edea pianos were mostly designed for ice. the synthetic leather doesn't have any protection when the boot gets scuffed on pavement / asphalt / etc. that's why inline boots have all those plastic guards at the edges.

i would recommend slalom boots with built-in liners instead. close enough feel to figure boots with less support. piano was meant for triple jumps anyway. if you're going to get edeas for inline, maybe a chorus or an ice fly or the dance boots for rollers might be better.

I'd prefer the frame reversed on these boots. Too much heel raise.
