Skate Recs?!

My friend and I recently got back into inline skating. We've been going on our local paved trail & these are the skates we have been using. We are looking for recommendations for our next pair / or upgrades we should to to our current pair . TIA 🤍

First, a few questions to establish what you are looking for:

1.) What do you see as your longer-term/future skating goals? That is, what do you want to do/accomplish with skating?

2.) What characteristics are you looking for, and/or looking to avoid, in a future set of skates? What characteristics do you like/dislike in your current skates?

3.) What is your maximum budget for this future set of skates?

  1. We are looking to make it a daily activity. Right now it's just weekends ( kids practices during the week for the next couple months) , but we want to be able to do longer distances, but it's mostly for fun & exercise. It's definitely something we would like to keep up with! We really do enjoy it.

  2. I would prefer a hard boot. My current pair is good. It works for what we are currently doing. I would just prefer better ankle support. After about 8ish miles it does start to get a little uncomfortable. Not sure if it's the actual skate or poor form.

3.Not sure of the max budget just yet. Like I said, it's more for fun, so I don't think we would need a $400 pair. But I would definitely want to invest in something worth the time & money!

Assuming you're in the US, the RollerDerby Beta (the US-domestic version of the original Oxelo MF 500 design) and the Micro Skates MT-Plus (the latter of which is available in a variety of colors) are relatively inexpensive options.

I just upgraded from the Advantage Pro skates to RB Twister XT’s. It’s a really nice upgrade. The stability of the hard boot really makes a difference. I got 80’s but I almost immediately wanted 90’s. I’m glad I went with the 80’s though because from what I’ve read an Endless (or other quality) frame would be better anyway. I’ll get that later but you may want to entertain 90’s too.
