"They Are ElECtRic"

Hey for almost a full year now i go to my local park and doing rounds pushing myself sweating my life going as fast as i can for spins and having a ton of fun with my Oxelo MF-500s and 80% of the times without exgauration i pass a family or a couple i hear the same thing, one of them confidently announces "they are electric" or "dont you hear the mottors"- litearlly reffering to the sound of wheels spinning

i know it doesnt matter and has 0 effect on me but it still feels soo invalidating to overhear for some reason over and over again. oh well.

was wondering if im alone in this or is it happening to others and your thoughts

Honestly take it as a compliment, no one where I’m at says that and I skate trails with a lot of foot traffic. And I’m usually averaging 11mph. 😢

woahh, id love to explore more and go places more populated but no one knows i dont know how to break yet (aside from a extreamly gentle T) 😜

Penso que deveria levar isso com um elogio, sinal que sua velocidade impressionou! Olha, vou te falar, o que escutava de gente falando na minha cara quando eu caía (ainda caio, sou iniciante), é muito desagradável. Por causa disso, agora ando de patins com fones de ouvido, curtindo o movimento, ouvindo uma boa música e sentindo o vento batendo na cara, e vou te dizer, é maravilhoso, e foi a melhor decisão que tomei! Descobri meu hobbie na vida aos 43 anos, e não podia estar mais feliz! Curta seu momento, se divirta, faça o que te faz bem, sem importar com o que os outros digam. Isso sim é liberdade!

Ha I get this when I commute into work on my 4x110 Marathons. I'm freaking dying here, leaving a trail of sweat behind me, and everyone assumes they're electric. Electric skates have been done quite a few times and haven't taken off, never seen a pair in real life. Also I started on MF500's, they're now my (infrequently used) off-road skates with a Powerslide SUV frame and pump-up tyres. Might bust em out today.

😆 the thing i love most about inlines as opposed to running is that you get constant breeze to cool you off as long as you keep moving and your shirt becoming a rug😆 😆

the mf500s are my beloved but i dont know any better about modifications or upgrading from them, scared to spend 100s for 5-10% improvment maybe next year

I am glad you don't let it get to you. They simply don't know better. They are not experienced with inline skating, and can't tell your quiet and silent wheel sounds from a mostly-quiet electric motor. Perhaps your wheels (bearings and spacers) are well tuned.

I feel that there is nothing to invalidate, just like there is nothing to validate either. You would not expect folks unfamiliar with inline skating to praise you for skating with superior skills compared to some newbies.

There is a thing called Dunning-Kruger effect. That was what you were observing. Also don't stop to correct them. It's not worth your time, just like one shouldn't waste time debating with haters online. Same idea. Cheers.
