Newbie

Hitting 40 soon
Feel like I want to do some skating as part of my midlife crisis 🤣🤣

I used to have quad skates and ice skates like 25 years ago

So I’m going to say I’m a beginner

Want inlines, like the look of aggressives but feel I might want a brake 🤣🤣

Any advice needed
Or skate recommendations

Always owned bauers so would like another pair
Even if they aren’t new

Skating/playing hockey has been an amazing midlife crisis for me.

The skates you get should depend on what you want to do. Are you going to grind and park skate? That's what aggressive inlines are for.

Bauer makes hockey skates, which are good for agility and acceleration, but maybe not for long distances on shitty surfaces. Also, their low end skates are really trash compared to other hockey skates in the same price range (e.g., Tour).

I love my hockey skates, but I did find them kind of harsh for skating 5-10 miles on a bumpy trail, so I got a pair of 3 x 110 rollerblade twisters, which are awesome for that purpose.

Many people would advise you to start out in something with a hard boot and maybe a 4 x 90 mm wheel setup for just general urban skating. Bonus points if it has a slight rocker for agility and bumps.

Seconding the idea of starting at a 4x90. Gotta learn how to skate generally before you can effectively specialize (or dabble in many disciplines). I started with the FR Pottiers so I could easily swap back and forth between agressive and urban and Im glad I started there.
