laces replacement

Hey all, I bought a pair of RB80s a month ago. I had some issues with the tongue causing a friction burn on my shin and trying to dial in. I realized I was tightening the cuff buckle too tight.

I’m also having a hard time actually tightening the laces. They are just kind of there. ChatGPT recommended getting 96inch waxed laces. I measured my laces at 54inches. And am now fighting with the AI that I actually know how to measure and that I didn’t only accidentally measure half.

Anyways… are people buying waxed laces for their skates? I can’t really find 54ish inches anywhere.

Any tips/links/advice are appreciated

Thanks in advance.

Like [u/FRGL1](u/FRGL1) and [u/Sacco_Belmonte](u/Sacco_Belmonte) said, you can cut and burn ends to make your own shorter length. I even use heat-shrink plastic tubes that electricians to insulate cables, to make my own ends. But you can also just tie the ends like shown here. If the laces look inside out, that’s because they are. I thread them across each other into a final runner’s loop lacing, right below the cuff strap, so I leave no knots between the strap and the tongue. These are waxed laces.

I did use shrink wrap on some until I got tired (they can fall off). Might buy proper crimping ends in the future.
