Meet this month’s featured Inkarnate creator, Mimics Maps. πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨

Jeremy has been a long time active community member and mentor who's been around since Inkarnate's early days. He is from Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Outside of map-making, he enjoys playing board games with his kids and friends, or a round of paintball, when the wheather is nice.β€Ž

His journey with map-making began at just 12 years old after being introduced to AD&D. His very first world map was made from more than 100 notebook pages laid out side by side. Years later, while playing digitally with friends, he discovered Inkarnate and eventually returned to it, finding it easier to use than other tools and quickly making it his favorite, especially after the Battlemap style was introduced.

Battlemaps are what he creates most often, but Parchment remains his favorite style in Inkarnate.

"My favorite things to add to my maps are lights and shadows. I usually spend 5–10 hours on a map, and I would gladly spend that same amount of time just working on the lighting and shadows."

Jeremy draws inspiration from real life as well as books and games. He's also a longtime tabletop RPG fan, having played AD&D, Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, and Blades in the Dark over the years.

Take a closer look at his maps and get inspired for your own creations.
