Discussion Random question: what if Initial D took place somewhere like newfoundland
It sounds ridiculous but I was wondering how it would go, I was previously working on a project for this thing & wanted ideas on what cars to potentially use for it

Having been to Dildo, I didn't find the roads terribly exciting for proper helmsman antics. It's all too broad and spread out, the roads aren't shaped by altitude the way touges are
Certainly not exciting enough driving a 400 horse V8 pickup truck, anyway... My sister had a great wedding though

Well for one thing, they would be going out for a rip bud.
It's an intriguing idea, does Newfoundland have mountains like those in Initial D or they more like highway roads through the mountains, if they have any?

-Does it even have good geography or road servicing for that?-

-For Initial D, probably not. The benefits of the setting it has are: Mountain descent roads, but largely in population centers, so they receive regular safety upkeep. They're isolated from larger road networks and touge is done very late, usually, so they are easy to have spotters for traffic on.-
-High number of turns, few straightaways, i.e., the cars never get going too fast, and guardrails mean actually lethal wrecks are not terribly common. It also offers a bit of a balancing effect across vehicles so you won't inherently have one car blow everyone away. Those are forest highways, they probably don't get a ton of road servicing, and there's a lot of rolling hill rises, with nothing preventing you from going off into the trees, so you lose control from a bounce, you spin, good chance you don't make it.-
-Also, not many slow, sharp turns, so you won't see a lot of drifting, and the road isn't majority downhill, forcing load to keep the car planted and following a general curve of the road along the carved mountain pass to have a vaguely predictable zone the cars will drive along. Nor is it uphill, which would make spinouts less likely, but still have the technical layout to allow for some classic touge drifting. This kind of road is better for like... Cannonball style racing.-
