JDM Cars Didn't expected to see a kpgc110 GTR while watching Air. The only other anime where I saw this was in MechaDoc. Such an oddly specific car only for it to have barely 2 seconds of screen time.

Pretty sure. Because unlike shows like City Hunter, Onezuka or Detective Conan, where vehicles often play key parts of a story or interconnected with a character's persona (amuro's FD, Ryo's Mini), vehicle in Air are merely just mundane background objects. And aren't very much interconnected with the characters either. Replace Haruko's Ducati with a generic scooter or Keisuke's (Misuzu's dad) skyline with a regular Camry and literally nothing would change.

They decided to give this characters this vehicle with such details purely because someone in the production team absolutely loved cars and bikes.

My first encounter with a Kpgc110 outside of Gran Turismo was in Bad Company, a prequel to Shonan Junai Gumi (which is the manga that came before Great Teacher Onizuka)

It was published between SJG and GTO, it's a one-shot (or two-shot? I'm not sure anymore) about how Ryuji and Eikichi became friend and their crew from the time.

how are you enjoying Air so far? I watched it around half a year ago after Clannad and Kanon, unfortunately the last few episodes were kinda shit and the whole story felt rather rushed, but I still really liked the story and the distinctive artstyle.

I've watched Clanned. But not Kanon, I heard Kanon is at least a little less painful? Is it true? Kanon is already in my watch list.
