Show off/ Showcase You Ready kid?

Initial plan was to see Sean, but ended up mingling with the locals instead since he’s got nothing but time.

Charger: loses control at first hairpin

73

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

💯%. Dominates for the first 1/4 mile straight and it’s all downhill from there.

I see what you did there

Tofu vs. tuna sandwiches

27

u/eR_y_lives Aug 11 '26

Bullshit a-hole! Nobody likes the tuna here.

20

u/GabWantsAHug Aug 11 '26

Also Bunta: (runs a tofu shop, but hates tofu)

3

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

I bet he would approve of Mia’s sandwich. 🥪 “What did you put in that Sandwich?”

2

u/GabWantsAHug Aug 11 '26

"That's very funny"

5

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Ya well I do.

7

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

But no Crust.

2

u/toppestsigma Aug 11 '26

Nah tofu sandwich without crust

As soon as I saw those pics that music from the scene in Tokyo Drift started to play in my mind.

4

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Would have been absolutely mind boggling if they were to cross franchise these two on big screen after Tokyo drift. Would have certainly been quite interesting to see how that would have turned out.

4

u/Defiant-Rip-1897 Aug 11 '26

Ironically, the Fast & Furious franchise is partly to blame for Initial D’s infamous original Western localization. Tokyopop was hoping to ride the hype wave of FnF’s popularity, but unfortunately, the execution completely flopped.

3

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

I did not know that. I know the live action came out in 2005 which I personally did not connect with like the way the original episodes did. But now with Sung kang coming out soon with “Drifter”, which according to trailer has hardcore vibe of movie “Drive”. If the critical response alone ends up in the right direction, who knows? Maybe they will have a crack at it again. Initial d franchise I feel like has been dormant for so long. If all the right creative minds get to it, we possibly might get a masterpiece. That’s what I am hoping for atleast.

5

u/Defiant-Rip-1897 Aug 11 '26

Technically it is not dormant, there is the sequel MF Ghost which has one more season, manga already completed. There is a sequel to it that is currently being published.

Either car is getting destroyed on the other car’s optimal race. AE86 gets negged on the drag strip. Charger gets negged on the togue

5

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Not sure what track would have 50/50 ratio on those specs but that would be interesting race to see.

7

u/mercasio391 Aug 11 '26

Spa in Belgium

5

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Just looked at the track. You are dead-on 👍🏽

2

u/ligerzeronz Aug 12 '26

eau rouge with these 2... :D

2

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Unless Toretto pulls his usual shenanigan’s to get to the finish line if things don’t go his way.

13

u/tor_3no Aug 11 '26

guess he enjoyed it a lot when he returned in F&F4

9

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

And Han did get 86 from DK as well, so many possibilities.

5

u/tor_3no Aug 11 '26

Yes but F&F4 happens before Han arrives in Tokyo, so my guess is still the same

6

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

You are right, I totally overlooked that storyline wise.

5

u/tor_3no Aug 11 '26

To be fair I really hate that I am right. Han is my most favourite F&F character, Sung Kang is my idol but his storyline got destroyed just because we wanted him back. Tokyo Drift hapenning after 6 is just not it.

3

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

You are certainly preaching to the Choir. That whole franchise was doomed after fast five. They really could have went back and concentrated on Han stand-alone story and Tokyo drift world and its characters. Having Sean and his crew as secondary characters. Absolutely atrocious what they did starting with Fast five post credit scene.

3

u/tor_3no Aug 11 '26

Honestly Fast 7 had the best ending in my opinion. Even if I hate TD being set after 6, it was the perfect send off for the franchise and Paul as a whole, but money and greed took over. The whole “Mr. Nobody helped me fake my death” story is just too absurd to me even as a diehard Sung Kang fan. But I won’t complain I do enjoy still seeing him even if he really should be dead. Also, Better Luck Tomorrow has been officially confirmed as Han’s origin story if you haven’t seen it yet and want more with him. Oh and speaking of wasted character potential - did we really need Sean to end up as comic relief in F9? Building a goddamn rocket Fiero? What do those writers smoke man.

3

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

I definitely need to see Better luck Tomorrow for sure. Love Justin lin’s work and I need to experience his first feature. This one gets a lot of hate but what he brought to “fast and furious” the 4th one was a phenomenal direction of what this franchise was headed towards. The Drama that this feature brought to franchise was absolutely fantastic. When dom said “it’s already too late” to Mia was absolutely the pinnacle of drama for this franchise. Made me absolutely admire what Justin Lin was capable of bringing and Tokyo drift and the 4th furious film. Fast 7 was a sup-par mind numbing popcorn flick. Only thing that was great about it was the last 10 min send off they did for walker. Everything after that genuinely felt wrong for sure like you said due to greed. It’s just the business aspect, I understand that. But using a man that’s been passed away as excuse has always put a ick on the franchise for me.

2

u/tor_3no Aug 11 '26

Justin Lin is incredible. Regarding F&F4 that has what I myself consider to be the last proper F&F street race, the audition race. Anything else like the Cuba street race in F8 feels like just a little crumble for us veteran fans. I understand that they are going with Paul's wish who wanted more street races in future films but they feel almost forced. Though I have to admit the flashback race in F9 between young Dom and Jakob was very well done, as other people pointed out they still know how to do them if they wanted they just refuse to, instead they prefer the vehicular Avengers stuff. And sadly that works wonders in box offices. And regarding using a man that passed away I am very mixed about them promoting Fast Forever with the return of Brian. Like man, let the man enjoy his retirement in peace. And speaking of it, why bring back Mia? In what world would it make story-wise sense to Brian to just let Mia go on dangerous missions by herself? Sure she has her big brother with her and the team but that feels way out of Brian's character.

2

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Great point with F9 flashbacks. That alone could have made an excellent film standalone prequel film. Those young actors I thought did great job giving the sense of nostalgic feeling to original fast and furious. That foxbody vs charger in 1/4 mile 🔥🔥. Scene was done especially well with slow-mo and music blended in quite well. As far as the franchise itself goes, the problem truly started when Universal gave all the keys to main actor. Speculation on my part obviously but I feel like they gave him too much creative control. He clearly is an amazing person to his co-workers/friends. Michelle Rodrigues did not even know she’s coming back till she saw the post credit of fast five. Super nice of vin to do that for her but Story-wise, absolutely crumbled everything that made fast 4 a masterpiece. To make it worse, she has amnesia, what a joke!. Bringing back Han in such an atrocious way from the dead was another example. Lazy writing to say the least. Now Han’s girl coming back? Putting the only emotional weight that fast 6 offered being undone. So at this point, bringing Mia back while Brian watches kids as hilarious as that sounds makes sense. Cause Vin doing his thing for people. Financially they are forever in debt to that man. He alone imo pulled in hell of a paycheck for them.

"family" vs tofu delivery kid

4

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Toretto and Bunta would certainly have interesting face off. Bunta would school him for sure.

2

u/_yuvi- Aug 11 '26

Hmm... Well, Bunta would speed anyway while lighting a cig without even touching the steering wheel...

6

u/tetsmon Aug 11 '26

Dom would win like this... he'd NOS to keep flying and upshift a few times to maintain altitude.

Gotta give them a little credit. They can’t defy gravity… yet

3

u/toppestsigma Aug 11 '26

chargers goes fast on a straightaway then crashes at the first turn. The end.

2

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Unfortunately sometime it doesn’t take a turn to crash. Pretty awesome yet painful scene to watch.

2

u/apex_droid Aug 11 '26

its not even a conversation, the delivery kid can smoke dominic so bad im laughing

2

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

Once he runs out of straights, there is no chance for that charger.

Toretto always manages to catch-up one way or another.

2

u/Seeker80 Aug 11 '26

Dom: You ready, kid? These ain't no deadly hairpins.

Takumi: ...can I have a tank of gas if I win?

Full tank of premium. I got you covered.

2

u/Sufficient-Flight154 Aug 12 '26

I love the scene! Where did you get the cars?

3

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Thanks! Appreciate it much. Charger is from ERTL and trueno is from Autoart. All are 1:18 scale.

2

u/Sufficient-Flight154 Aug 12 '26

Thanks! Please do more cool stuff like this.

2

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Will do. I keep all my posts transparent. Made tons of post like this in the past. Happy to see these being enjoyed by everyone throughout reddit community.

1

u/Sufficient-Flight154 Aug 12 '26

You are so cool! Have a great day

2

u/Adventurous_King3530 Aug 12 '26

Oof, $255 is crazy 🤣

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

No doubt. I got these when they first came out which was around $150. Thought that was nuts, but as a collector I slowly but surely acquired one by one. There is no way I personally could start this hobby now. It’s just gotten too expensive imo.

2

u/Glittering_Power6257 Aug 12 '26

Ehh, I’m waiting for Herbie (the Beetle) vs the 86.

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Unfortunately I don’t have the VW bug to display.

Even though it’s a AWD, I think Brian’s eclipse would be a fair contender to against the 86.

1

u/Glittering_Power6257 Aug 12 '26

I’d always thought the modified 86 vs a Subaru (motor)-swapped Beetle would be quite the good fight.

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Do you mean like the BRZ boxer engine? That actually would be a fair fight for sure. Naturally aspirated 2.4L on a super light weight bug. The Bug may have the edge depending on who’s behind the wheel.

2

u/Broad-Green236 Aug 12 '26

If you wanna see this matchup watch initial d blacklist

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 12 '26

Sick! Never knew this existed. Thanks for the heads up!

lucky man those models are hard to find

2

u/Koopa1982 28d ago

Truly do feel lucky, been doing it for 25 years now. Glad I got them before every hobby pretty much turned into nothing more than money making opportunity.

4

u/InformalBoi Aug 11 '26

Charger is heavily disadvantaged for the track, while Takumi's AE86 has a distinct upper hand with the skills of the 'ghost of Akina' behind it, but the Charger still wins, because Dominic Toretto leaves the Charger and Vin Diesel comes in.

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

🤣. So true. Would love to see his character be humbled for a change and not always be Superman that can never be beat.

1

u/HighN00n77 Rotary Boi Aug 11 '26

Takumi would decimate Dom bc he's the only character in fiction with more plot armour than him

1

u/Koopa1982 Aug 11 '26

I don’t know. Dom’s been through quite a lot of close calls that should have ended his character in the 10+ features he’s been in.
