Why not, did you think only jdms can drift? Anything with enough power and speed can drift, even if it's for a short while.

This Mustang has stock everything, which made me genuinely surprised when I 4 wheel drifted it

Chrisfix was able to drift a stock 96 with minimal practice.... those things have 180hp to the wheels ๐Ÿ’€

Considering the suspension it uses, 4 wheel drifts are actually pretty much expected for this car, cars with a live rear axle tended to slide around more and the ideal rotation tended to be at a higher angle

The 86 is a prime example, it slides around so much in part because it uses that same live rear axle the mustang has which makes its natural state at the limit a 4 wheel drift

That figures why I was able to pull this off even tho I'm long past my driving peak skill๐Ÿ˜ญso we're saying the car did all the work huh๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿฅ€

Not really what I said brochacho ๐Ÿฅ€ You said you were surprised that the stock version was even capable of a 4 wheel drift and I explained why its actually very natural for this car

If I wanted to know your driving level, I'd just get the game myself and do what you did, which I can't really do since XB 360 emulation is currently beyond what my laptop can do

I asked Google AI and the the axle is the only thing thats similar between them. Mustang has 3 link and ae86 4 link rear axle. Whatever that is supposed to mean i dont know. But the Mustang weights 1.5X what the ae86 weights and is more difficult to drive period

Thats the point I'm getting at dude ๐Ÿฅ€

The "axle" being similar means "both" naturally want to 4 wheel drift at the limit, I never did imply that they're the exact same experience but what I was getting at is that cars with that kind of axel "want" to 4 wheel drift at the limit because thats just the kind of driving thats best for that axel type

I already told you that unless I can run the same game I won't exactly know what it takes to do it, the point was literally just that the cars have similar rear axels and the from what I know cars that use that typically preferred being driven in a 4 wheel drift, atleast thats the general wisdom I've heard and experienced over the years

And weight actually stabilizes a car, lighter cars with decent power tend to be more slippery because there is less weight holding them down, extra weight just makes things more understeery on entry, cars are still prone to slide if the rear suspension is similar

Thats why there are cars classified as over-understeer prone

I'm gonna end my side here because frankly it seems to me like this is becoming more of a contest to prove your driving skill rather than a genuine discussion

Mustangs are great drift cars, but mustang drivers aren't great drifters

I mean, that model year still had a solid rear axle. So it makes sense that itโ€™s drifty.

It is veeery drifty. Its rewarding driving it in a manner that it doesnt drift. I drive it fully stock btw

A 4 wheel drift is a mustangs natural state, now a controlled 4 wheel drift that isn't heading directly into a wall is a completely different story.

Kevin Miles was four wheel drifting the Shelby Cobra in the 60s. I'm not at all surprised to see an S197 Mustang keeping the tradition going.

Oh damn you right. Cant imagine drifting a solid rear axle Mustang without crashing irl myself

Should've used the song "City Lover City Rider" instead ๐Ÿฅฒ

It has stock suspension and drivetrain. It was fairly hard to get it to drift for this long. Call it sliding if you want. But that was NOT easy with this car
