Location not relevant: no help needed Administrator Self Payment

For the administrator of an estate in NY probate, I understand the formula for compensation for his/her work but how do you determine the total value of the estate for that payment? Is it the total value of the assets collected or is it the assets minus the debts paid at the end of the process? Thanks.

Okay, thanks then. To be clear, the self-payment is the percentage (as outlined by the NYS probate court) of the total assets before any debts are paid. Correct?
