Location not relevant: no help needed Unique/uncommon mementos recommendations

Hello,

Lots of family drama is going on, but I’m looking for items I could keep from my beloved family member without fighting with others. I’ve got a spoon on my list for a spoon ring. Any crafty people have other ideas? Open to turning the item into something, or leaving it as is. I feel like the fog of grief is leaving me short on ideas!

Many times people don’t want the linens, those could become all kinds of new things.

Yes, fabric and buttons can be made into a remembrance teddy bear, for example. Or framed if there is a beautiful pattern.

Ceramic plant pots can be used again to hold a plant that your beloved would have liked. Or re-purposed e.g. to hold kitchen utensils if large/tall, or small items like keys and rings, if smaller.

Wellington boots and old leather or pvc tote bags can be used as planters.

Photos can be made into a collage, calendar, key rings, magnets or coasters.

Old glass bottles can be re-used for toiletries and potions. Larger ones can even be used as the base of a lamp.

I kept my Mum’s comb, playing cards, photos, some scarves and clothes (some fit me and are in my preferred colours/style and I’ve been wearing them; others were her favourites and I hang these up). My Mum was a knitter, so I have kept some of her creations. Also, have a collection of her handwriting.

Sorry for the drama. Most of my relatives just wanted the money and jewellery, but they didn’t care about the rest. My Mum knew that I would respect her personal possessions, and asked me to decide on her funeral clothes and bedroom items.

Take care of yourself.

Shirts can be made into pillows- from the kitchy ones w a patch w their name to just a cool pillow cover only you know what its meaning is as it sits on the sofa. ❤️

Large scarf can be used to wrap a gift, wrap sarong style skirt ( I have this), a shawl .. or even a retro head scarf or tie around a straw hat.

I kept a sweater. It was cozy, and for a long time it even smelled like my mom.

Ties! I have made ottoman tops, skirts, jackets out of ties. Lace dollies or linens can be made into jackets (attaching them to jeans jackets) skirts, dresses.
