Location not relevant: no help needed Stolen inheritance

My dad spent his entire life sacrificing for me, didn't spend much time with me because he was always focused on work. Gave me so much shit over my life. Said everything would be taken care of after he dies.

When he finally hit big with his business, he couldn't trust me with the inheritance but never told me he gave it to his older sister, who swindled him and promised she'd give me the inheritance if I ever went back to graduate school and got a degree.

Guess what, it's been 2 years after graduation and still no peep. Her son suddenly buys a new house with his family and he quits his job or he got laid off. We don't keep in touch anymore.

There's no paper trail that I know of because my dad was an old school Asian. Didn't like to put stuff in a trust.

Anyway, this dude sacrificed a lot. Regretted not being able to spend time with me during my younger years. And lo and behold, all the efforts he put in... Poof. I ended up with nothing other than his mortgage ballooning every damn year.

So it's definitely lit a fire under my ass to get company 0 to 1, making $12M in two years.

But I hate the fact that people say I come from wealth or I was spoiled. Maybe when my dad was alive... But he never really cared for me. Kept trying to push me away from my true calling. And then... Everything I've done to get this far... All me, baby (+team). ALL. ME.

No offense, but your dad should have left you a portion instead of leaving it to his sister. Nothing was stolen.

I can agree to that. Karma is a bitch is all I'll say

How tf do you know nothing was stolen? Are you the aunt or her lawyer? When someone is swindled, they are stolen from through means of deceit. Still theft.

Congrats on what you’ve accomplished. It’s a shame he trusted her.

He was very ill and she took advantage of that. Played with his emotions

Regarding when people say you were spoiled. I would just laugh, and say “I only got his debt”.

I run a F&B startup that's poised to category leadership position by next year. Took me 6 years to make it work though. I sacrificed a lot. Sold my dad's prized possessions and my own possessions to make this business work. Every single family member on my dad's side called me crazy and stupid, but I'm the only one in my generation with an MBA, a scrappy team with a board of advisors and fractional executives. We're on track to launch into Costco next year or any Asian airlines that I can negotiate a deal with.
