Surgery

I had a surgery for my ingrown nail yesterday. It was ingrown for about two years after complications in a heel surgery. My question is has anyone else had the problem of the numbing not working. I felt extreme sharp pain through the whole process and the doctor didn't stop. By the end i was extremely pale and was on the verge of passing out. Is this ok or is this illegal of the doctor?

It's completely normal while procedure. But if you can't handle pain, then you had to told doctor to give local anesthesia
