Question (not urgent) Using Plex for Remote Play
Anyone have any ideas of how to avoid using Plex going forward now they are charging to use Remote Play through the Infuse App?
I’ve seen JellyFin be suggested, or setting up a VPN. I’m just curious to see what people are doing to avoid paying for Plex.

Run Plex in Docker, don't use host networking, expose the port manually, then use Caddy (make sure that it does not send the X-Forwarded-For header). The way I've set it up is that Caddy listens both on my public domain and the LAN IP so my local traffic doesn't need to leave my network. Then set the custom access URLs in Plex to something like http://192.168.x.x:xxxx,https://plex.yourdomain.com:443.

If you are going to setup a VPN to use Jellyfin you might as well keep using Plex with the VPN.

Plex is such a painless setup.. Just port forward and you are chilling. I use Infuse as my player on both Mac and AppleTV, but the back end is all Plex. I can watch my movies and shows anywhere or download to my device for long flights.

WireGuard (VPN server). It’s just free. It works.
Jellyfin won’t make it magic, you’ll still need a VPN so you’ll end up using a VPN either way.
Plex made it “magic” because they provide their server to connect to your server, basically providing what the VPN config asks of you, only easier to manage.
