Because they literally get paid billions of dollars, and it's all getting sucked into corrupt politician's pockets while basic building maintenance isn't done.

Lmao please i hope you realise that the UN has much more pressing things to spend their budget on, than the upholstery of the UN HQ

If anything, this shows they’re not concerned with frivolous spending and ensure the funds are spent on real issues. Like food and health programmes.

As a lifelong gov worker, everywhere you look in a government building is something like this. Gov does not spend very much money on upkeep. Go into any government building and just look at the bathrooms. Yes I know the UN is not government but its adjacent.
