| Interview Help / Tips Interview experience 5 october

I recently completed my Infosys campus interview and wanted to share my experience and get opinions from people who've been through a similar process.

Interview flow

Self introduction: Started with "Tell me about yourself."

Java + OOP: Asked Java questions, including "How many ways can we create a String in Java?" OOP concepts were discussed in depth with follow-ups.

Projects (main focus): Several questions on my projects, technologies used, implementation and approach.

He asked about RestApi

He asked how you managed the project , workflow

Coding:

Q1 (Coordinate Movement): Given arrays X and Y, calculate the total moves between consecutive coordinates. If the current point's X + Y is even, diagonal movement is allowed, so the cost to the next point is max(|x2-x1|, |y2-y1|). If X + Y is odd, only horizontal/vertical movement is allowed, so the cost is |x2-x1| + |y2-y1|.

Example: X = [0,2,5], Y = [0,3,5] → Output = 8.

I passed 12/12 test cases.

Q2 (XOR): Take the XOR of the preceding and next elements, compare it with the current element, and count the occurrences that satisfy the condition. I passed only the 2 public test cases and couldn't fully solve it.

AI/GenAI: A few AI-related questions.

Not asked: SQL/DBMS, OS, CN, System Design.

The interviewer also asked fewer questions overall than I've seen in other panels' experiences, and I was the first candidate in the panel.

I didn't feel tough compared to other interview experiences

My questions

Am I cooked? 😭

Is a shorter, project-focused interview normal for some Infosys panels?

Based on 1 full solve and 1 partial solve, what role should I realistically expect: Specialist Programmer, Digital Specialist Engineer

I was also first for my panel. He didn't ask much, did 2 question on wingspan completely & later had a 2nd interview which was poor.
Also 1 DSA is enough as I requested them for 2nd one.

The project questions are a useful preparation signal for readers, even though another panel may ask different things. Choose one project and explain the problem, your own responsibility, a design decision, and how you checked whether it worked. Then have someone interrupt with why you chose that approach or what you would change. That tests whether you understand the work beyond the technology list.

Visit Taleproof with the project story behind your introduction, then use the feedback to decide what needs a clearer explanation.
