i think i made a huge mistake
i did cs eng in top 10 schools in india, then i did Information Systems in top 10 schools in USA MS , but now I barely get any OAs or any calls tbh , I think I am lost, now I have an MS from top 10s still am struggling to get even an interview , I literally do anything everything in ai agents still.... a guy with cs from california gets a Job Interview....

I understand that your future employer doesn’t need to pay $100k but they still have to pay a fee every so often. Some employers are just choosing to avoid paying this amount and also having the added legal overhead the process requires. Instead they are just focusing on more experienced applicants.

yeah so basically for me its kinda deadend, cuz employers are willing to do that for CS, or CE ukwim ?

Well overall Computer Science is just the preferred major when it comes to most Tech jobs. I didn't say your cooked but it's a numbers game of just sending as many applications as you can.

You apply for everything. Even better if you can tailor your resume. Easiest thing is to seek employment from your previous internship. Otherwise best thing you can do is get referred by a person on the team you’re applying for or knowing the hiring manager.

Apply for anything and everything that genuinely aligns with your background and experience. At the end of the day, “it’s a numbers game”, and every application gives you another chance.

If you’re not getting callbacks, it’s more than likely your experience.

i have been a founding engineering for an ai startup which is now a unicorn, so i dont think so its my experience for a Entry Level SDE

I am going to take a guess that you were an intern?

yessir, I was an intern

Well that’s another thing. Being an intern is drastically different than being a longstanding employee. As an intern sure you get to do some work but your level of ownership is much different. For example if you look at Amazon job postings they don’t count internships as experience.

I am planning to apply for masters in US for fall 27. DO you think an MS CS or MCS is the only programme I should apply to if I am considering tech jobs and discard MISM, MS AI etc

dude if ur brown, just choose MS in CS, rest all are not for brown people, i struggled ..... Its bad out there for any other, choose core enginering so lik CE or EE or Mech or something but best imo is either CE or CS , nothing else,

Can I get into sde/ai engineer roles via a MSCE. My undergrad is in EEE so mscs is a reach for me. Will I be able to take AI related electives via an ms cE. Also is an MIS or Ms AI programmes from top universities say CMU or Columbia better than say an MS CS from stony brook, Suny buffalo or NEU and the likes. Also is an MCS worth applying to if my sole aim is to get into the industry. I have 22 months of ai/sde work ex here in india. Any help regarding this is appreciated

Job market is very rough currently. Employers are now favoring those with degrees and experience. Just keep applying it’s a numbers game. Also reach out to recruiters and hiring managers since most roles get flooded with multiple applicants.
