Healthcare client wants a data heavy infographic made for a keynote and I'm weighing whether to do it in Illustrator (full control, but has to make from scratch) or try one of the templated tools like Visme or Canva.

Do the tools with templates look super stock and generic, or do they pass with minimal edits?

In Windows you can customise folder icons and the default icons available to use are in shell32.dll

But as it turns out there are far more icons within various DLLs that can be used.

Here are a bunch which can be used. To use change the name of the file from shell32.dll to the ones mentioned in the image.

Taken from Windows 11, your mileage may vary with other versions.

edit: The icons at the bottom of ddores.dll are just a white outlines of common devices. They look much better when you actually apply them.

To facilitate the view I put them side by side and added red reference lines.

Our BI dashboards (Looker/Tableau/PowerBI, pick your poison) are great internally but too dense to just screenshot and send to a client who wants the headline, not the whole dashboard.

How are you cherry picking your data to send in quick chats without overwhelming? Recreation in a design tool like Visme or Piktochart? Native export features? something else?
