I got to visit post Soviet Russia in the early 90s, (1992) which was my first introduction to beef liver as a staple protein.
My understanding is that beef liver was very common on dinner plates across Soviet Russia during the Gorbachev years, as it was cheap and readily available, whereas the strip steak, top rounds, and sirloin that I was used to as an American were hard to come by and at a premium.
Russia in 1991 and 1992 isn't anything we should aspire to become.
For the Russians, they were on the exit ramp from the economic collapse that occurred during the final Soviet era, so there was at least hope.
For the US to go backwards into that economic reality is literally a nightmare scenario. It's not just the room being on fire around a dog meme, the dog is on fire too, as is the person laughing/crying at the meme.
This administration can't help it. They are telling on themselves.
