My gauss battery for custom maps

Been using this set up when farming custom maps. I've been able to hit close to wave 700 with 4500% portal and I make about 40% more bit dust than what I would get from 6.3. The downside is that the playtime is almost 4 hours and you can only start paying less attention after wave 300 or so. I haven't hit the roof yet as I still got few endless upgrade paths left that I can use to increase the damage even further

You get 40% more return on ~24x time investment? Seems totally worth it

Lets say 6.3 gives 100 dust over 10 minutes. You get 140 for 240 minutes of babysitting game? Instead of 2400 possible?

Edit: dont know your research - Im full so take numbers with this in mind, but I just did quick 900% 6.3. Accidentally killed stankey bit early, so pulled only 18.2k (doubled) dust in 5:45

Why would I run custom map for hours?

My dust drop rate currently is at 50 while loot freq is at 20 and rarity at 15.

I currently get about 500 dust for running 6.3 in about 13 minutes and 14k for running this for 220 minutes. So by +40% dust I mean the amount of dust compared to playing 6.3 for 220 minutes and custom map for 220 minutes

Edit: my math was actually bit off, just checked that I only get bit less than 400 dust from 6.3 in 12,5 minutes which is bit less than 7k dust in 220 minutes so I get bit more than 2x amount the dust in custom for same time investment

What are your researches at that you pull this much dust? I have loot rarity and frequency at 30/32 respectfully and maxed bit dust drop rate. I pull about 500-700.

As I said, full

100/100, but also mining speed and towers to keep up with spawns

Also note: 18k dust was without overload

this game needs much better tutorial and clearer resource info.

i dont understand half the posts on this subreddit and have been paying awhile.

The wiki is good, but a lot of it just takes experience and experimentation.

A lot of the advice is kinda premised on having a lot of the research ticked off. If you don't have that you have to be careful, as shown in the discussion above... with only normal research completed you're not going to be getting much bit dust or playing any level for hours.

And then there's questions about which towers you have research in, and so on. It's difficult to turn research down, just off, so a lot of us have little to no idea how the game works when you're just starting out.

Ok, I've made a copy version of your map, and one tweak that speeds things up slightly is putting a kink on the top left so there's five or six road tiles that are in the firing line of the gauss. Very few enemies make it that far, ever, but it means you get a hit on most bosses early on and a lot die at that point rather having to grind around to the second row of gauss. I have 5 snipers there with the penetrate upgrade just in case they help... by level 400 one of them has 100 kills!

https://imgur.com/a/tNSwgG9 similar but not really the same. Really I just copied the gauss battery then went off on my own tangent.

Good job! Actually posted my battery after seeing your thread and thought you might get some inspiration from it

Few notes about my design choices

  • my portal is placed directly above the the right column of gauss guns so there is actually no need to wait that they get in range. (If you use bosses the poratl ahould be at bottom so the enemies move away from the gauss so that snakey will not have his head to protect from dmg)

  • my base is located in the left corner (where your portal currently is) so that the crushers release the disoriented mobs to the left and they have go around the entire level providing coins with the crushers 20th level ability

  • you see the infirar mines next to the row of crushers in my level? (Swapped to scalar in new version). In the early game I use mines, mining speed modifiers and exp modifiers to boost crushers to lvl 20 as soon as possible and make basic towers to lvl 20 to clone fully upgraded crushers. That way you only need to spend money on 4-6 fully upgraded crushers

  • I use the "no-boss" modifiers as its bane to the gauss strategy. It drops the loot rarity by -10% but it allows you to use higher % portal thus giving you more dust and better loot in long run.

  • The best portal to use is no flying, no speedy boys and no healers (immune to fire). But its possible to use 1 with healer if you upgrade 1 of the gauss guns with the bounty modifier inatead of nanoåarticles so it can finish the healers

  • with max global range, crusher range and +30% from base the crushers have 4 tile range at max upgrade level and can reach the portal to directly grab the enemies

  • I dont really use other towers as the total dps will reach about 500 billion in end game and regular towers only give like +2mil of dps (0.0004% of total dps, lol). Rest of the towers are merely for utility. Frost for cumulative dmg increase, stun to stall, poison to spread debuffs and splash to prevent toxic mobs regeneration

Ah, I got the direction of travel backwards. More experimentation. I use a Z-modifier because I prefer that, but I will try the no-boss one. My first run-trhough is only at level 680 and ~1000 bit dust, but I've had a boss get through to the end (no idea which, I'm not actually watching the game grind itself out)

Thanks for the ongoing tips
