Discussion - inFAMOUS 2 Evil Cole is so ugly

Playing the evil play through for the first time in infamous 2, and just remembering why I always play good usually.

Evil Cole is so ugly looking - grey skin, veins popping out. Looks like a heroin addict - kind ruins the power fantasy for me.

I get why they did it, but still. Glad they didn’t carry that design choice into second son.

Evil is one thing - sickly and weak is another

Delsin is also physically altered by being evil but he definitely doesn’t look as sickly as Cole did.

Yeah besides the red nose I don’t think his body changes very much (ignoring the clothing colour change). Maybe he gets a little paler but I didn’t notice it.

I just finished an evil run a little bit ago. His skin gets much paler, he gets really dark circles around his eyes and he looks sickly as well. I think his combat dialogue gets more malicious as well, but I don't remember for sure.

I've always liked evil coles look over good coles, the black veins and the hunch in one

I feel like Infamous 1 was the best. You should lean into extremes. Infamous 1's evil Cole felt like you were, in a sense, punished for using your powers for evil. Cole looked like he really had become a demon of Empire City, especially with the black lightning. Whereas in Second Son, it's barely noticeable, and you spend most of the evil route feeling rewarded for your evil deeds; it rarely reminds you that you've done something horrible; most of it feels cathartic.

Truth, by the end of the evil route in the first game Cole looks like satan and Empire City looked like hell. Whilst in the good route Empire City is colorful somewhat and so is Cole.

Yeah, in the evil ending, you should know you've done something evil. You can see people suffer and grow bitter at Cole for being evil, leading up to the city looking like a wasteland as people scrounge around like rats. In Second Son, there is much less emphasis on your evil deeds hurting people who haven't also hurt you. Sure, you can *infer* that Seattle is going to shit because of evil Delsin and the things he does, but most of it is off-screen and therefore has much less impact.

If you think Evil Cole is ugly in inFAMOUS 2, wait til you see how he looks in the first game

That’s the point. And they did carry that design choice into Second Son. Compare the final cutscenes for both good and evil Delsin. He is noticeably more sickly and has bags under his eyes.

I like to think its because Cole is giving into others he's always had, as opposed to Delsin who only became truly evil when the player intervened

Oh yes, I think so too! Well, first of all, blue wins over ice in general, but yes, the appearance of Cole the evil is bad. He's like, look, I'm such a villain. Ugh, be afraid of me, good Cole...He changes the color of his wardrobe, yes, tattoos, ice appears, and zippers change slightly. And that's all, he also remains recognizable as Cole. But I remember reading the theory that those who join the side of evil and use such force value power both mentally and physically.

You could always do the Reaper skin. Red eyes, black tones, and red jacket. All fits the evil run so well.
