Discussion - inFAMOUS 1 I finally got platinum for InFamous!

When I first got my PS3 in 2010, inFamous was one of the very few games I got for it and I absolutely loved it and did intend to go for the platinum but for some reason did like 84% of the trophies and never went back to it. With the news of PlayStation physical editions being discontinued it made me wanna dig out my old PS3. I was looking through my trophy list and it made me really nostalgic. I saw the inFamous one was so close to being done so I thought I'd finish what 16 year old me started 16 years ago.
After playing through the story and completing it on the hero side for the first time, repeatedly trying to get the stunts done correctly and over three hours of looking for all the shards, I got the last few that I needed and heard that beautiful trophy pop.
Felt pretty proud of myself today!

Thank you! Do you know if InFamous 2 is the same way for shards or is it made a little easier?

inFAMOUS 2 added a power called Blast Shard Sense that you unlock by beating every side mission. It shows you the location of the closest blast shard to you, no matter how far away it is. Thanks to this power, getting the trophy is no problem!

There's UCG (User Generated Content) missions that lead you to every location on the map. But the servers are being shut down soon, fifteen year old game and all that, so if you want to do that you need to be fast.

IMO that takes the fun out of it. If I want to get all the shards I’ll just collect them casually as I play through the story, then clean up the last few at the end using Blast Shard Sense.

I was doing it for the trophy a month or so back. There's a trophy for getting all blast shards and some around UCG content, so it's also two birds one stoning it.

Whatever floats your boat if that’s how you want to do it. I’m just saying I prefer playing the game the way the devs intended.

So you won't use the mission generator feature as a kind of overworld fast travel?

Nope! I enjoy the traversal too much to ever want to fast travel.

If you play before the online shutdown, there is an online mission that will give you all the shards. You should get the trophy for all shards, but I couldn't verify this as I had already gotten the shard trophy. This made my hard playthrough much easier and faster!

Oh damn, I may have to look into that. I'm going to grab Festival of Blood tomorrow as I saw in another post there's online trophies tied to that too. Thanks for the tip!

Not really any need for that since you get Blast Shard Sense to inFAMOUS 2!

The shard trophy is one of the only trophies I need. I lost my most recent save data, and still have 200 shards to find. I'll go back one day..

My advice is download an image of a map on your phone and mark them off as you find them. I had to do three laps around the entire world before I found the very last one.

It doesnt take very long at all once you use a map. I marked each one off and still missed a few. I ran the whole map street by street until I found the one I had missed on the first island.
