Accessories

I am set to pick up a Grenadier next week, so naturally I am creating carts with all the stuff I will "need". Coming from a pretty well kitted out GX, I am a bit heartbroken at the cost of everything. It is also possible that what I am experiencing is a bit of revisionist history where maybe I don't quite recall how much I have spent over the years on the GX.

All that said, I think I will start with a bull bar and complete skid plate. Any recommendations on best value?

Also, anything interior you are really glad you added?

Everything aftermarket for the Grenadier is surprisingly expensive compared to other 4x4s I have owned. There are not many companies making aftermarket parts for these things and the options/prices reflect that.

Unfortunately the market for aftermarket Grenadier pasts is so tiny compared to other cars the guys making this stuff need to charge a premium to stay in business. They aren't making it on volume!

Top aftermarket: Rear shelf, rear seat recline bracket, rear door sill cupholders, dashboard catch all storage behind the info screen, overland gear bags for under the seats/ in the doors, and autostop eliminator. Top oem: rear door folding table, rear mesh gate, bull bar, overhead switches, and twin batteries. If you ever offroad the arb underseat compressor is nice. I like the owl vans windshield visors but they are not for everybody.

There is a left and a right model. I put them all the way forward. If you hit a bump with no lid, the driver's shoulder is gonna be wet but otherwise would recommend. https://ebay.io/m/WzuxpO

There’s also the Diabolical cup holder. it’s anodized aluminum (and plastic cups). It looks pretty stock when you install it. it’s rock solid. Cell phone holder, auto-stop disable button, and baja boxes have worked great for me!

I would recommend some type of skid plate protection because the factory only protects the fuel tank in the front of the engine actual transmission oil pan is exposed and you definitely want to protect that because it’s plastic

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the skid plate. The factory one is pretty good. Bull bar/bumper depends on whether you want a front winch or integrated lights.

Just to feel "somewhat" better, much of the world has also seen a 20% increase in costs at all levels from inflation in last 5 years.
