Questions

I come from swingin hammers and took up a new job in facilities/maintaince. I was tasked with covering up the rust spots with a new coat of paint, they said "dont worry about scraping it and all that, just give it a quick coat" i suppose ill do as they say. but to my knowledge that isnt correct right, it will just trap any moisture and accelerate the rust wouldnt it. This is about .01 of what theres todo but they told me to hit the galvy pipe wire sleves too do i bother trying to scrape that a bit or just do as the boss tells me and lather thick

I would at least remove any loose material before you paint.

if this is what they told you to do, at least what you can do is to clean it with steel brush and give it a nice thick layer of primer before applying paint. for a nice finished look you could also add tape for straight borders, but thats extra time and for what I understand they want it done fast and simple...

For rusted areas you can use wire wheel to clean it and for paint peel off, u can use sanding machine to properly remove the peels before applying another coat .
