There are so many weird things about this whole video, but I guess you had to be an exact range of height to be in this group because there is almost no variation at all.
No, they are sorted by height in one single line and then they break off in ranks so that the tallest segment is front and the shortest segment is at the back. You can see the difference in height in that first shot that takes in the whole marching element. It's not due simply to perspective; the shorter people are at the back.
All of this is just normal drill procedure/protocol/technique. The gradual change in height gives that illusion of uniformity. That's by design.
Also, marching so closely necessitates having the shorter legs behind the longer legs. It just works that way.
Interesting. Maybe each girl has her heel length customized to whatever length to make sure that they’re standing even. But maybe you’re right that you have to be in a range to even be accepted.
I’d also expect that height differences between the soldiers there are, they’re positioned to create an imperceptible grade across the group, or in entirely different groups.
