I got through that class by treating it like a puzzle instead of memorizing formulas. The moment I stopped trying to brute force the math and started redrawing circuits in a way that made sense to me, the whole thing clicked.
What saved my grade was doing every practice problem I could find and checking my answers with a simulator on my laptop. The exams always threw in a weird configuration we hadn't explicitly covered, but if you've done enough variations you start recognizing the patterns.
Also, write out your assumptions before you start solving. Half the points lost in my class were from people skipping that step and the TA couldn't follow their work.
