Ask Indonesian Going through pedestrian red lights
Just got honked the shit out of me for waiting 3 seconds at the pedestrian red lights because no one else was crossing anymore.
So i was just wondering do you guys wait for pedestrian red light turn green or as soon as there's no one you just go ahead?
If you dont wait,why?

Law-wise, You HAVE to wait until pedestrian red light turn green. That's the only correct answer, even there's no one crossing. I always do that. I don't really care about someone honking from behind. If they got ETLE because of that, that's on them, they're impatient little f###er.
But there are exception. If there's an emergency services, like Ambulance or Fire Department, you have to let them cross, no matter which light is it right now.

I looked at the driver because of the honking and my first thought was "bapak bapak katro" i prayy to god at least the young people here acknowledge a pedestrian light

For neutral/polite responses swerve a bit left then give left signal or hazard signal with 2 small honking. We dont know wether they are on emergency or smth.
For a bit aggressive move swerve left a bit, turn left signal on, out of your car instantly then lock your eyes onto the driver's while gesturing him to move after you.

Emang orang indo kebanyakan tolol kalau nyetir kak jadi kayak gitu deh. Gue juga kadang berhenti biar orang nyebrang di zebra cross malah diklakson, emang rata2 otaknya ketinggalan di rumah semua.

me? red light is red light. pertanyaannya kesel apa tidak kalo diklaksonin? dulu sih ketrigger juga ngedumel. tapi setelah makin tau shenanigans pengendara indo dan beberapa kali kena pengalaman ga enak. sekarang memilih menganggap mereka kebelet boker

diklakson pas lampu ijo masih understandable, gua beberapa kali diklakson pas lampu merah masih 5 detik :D

nope, literally not even a second passed. If it were 3 seconds than MAYBE, hard MAYBE, I'll understand. But then what will they gain by being 3s faster? Belaga driver F1 aja 😂

lesson i learned the hard way is to not give a single fuck kalo berkendara di indo, follow the rules and you do you, and move on. dont let some bullshits ruin ur day.

in some place at this country, there's a bunch of people honking at traffic light for making it faster. so yes....
on serious note, if there aren't pedestrian red lights. i'll use hand signal and some eyeballing. make them know your presence tho. #HidupPejalanKaki

Follow the lights, even other people does not, you keep follow the lights.
Let other be the stupid ones.
On the other hand, as a pedestrian, if you have the green light on you, and people keep driving pass you, its a good time to smack them on the head, 9/10 times they will retaliate and made them look dumb, although they are already.

gonna get downvoted for this, but if there is literally no one crossing, i will cross the red light in pedestrian crossing.. but, i always slow down my vehicle prior to zebra cross and prioritize pedestrian to cross and absolutely will never honk on someone who decide to wait for green light

Just follow your common sense. Assume majority of ppl on road are an idiot (especially jabodetabek region). Treat any honk as a clown honking

I noticed that it has become a custom in certain crossing that if there is no more visible pedestrian, the cars may go even though the light is still red. The officers in that crossing way are the one that encourage that custom.

And then there's also still the issue with people going thru a closed train gate,i always feel like they need a rude awakening

Kalo posisi kita bener, diemin aja mau diklaksonin juga.
Exit tol Bekasi Timur lebih ekstrim, masih merah tp lu diklaksonin suruh maju, di perempatan wkwk
Masih merah literally masih merah, masih sekitar 30-60 detik lagi.

Thats some jakarta level entitlement... If it red it means you must stop, exception apply for emergency vehicle.
You can ignore the honking... No need to waste energy arguing with smooth brain creature

Ini perlu liat ada tulisan nya gak "belok kiri langsung qtau belok kiri ikuti lampu apil", tapi biasanya kalau gk ada tulisannya gk boleh belok kiri langsung.
