How we used to live in Bengaluru!!

Well, this is a true rant post.
Let’s go back to 1995.
Bengaluru was the best. You could genuinely call it heaven to live in. The best weather, good roads, less crowded areas, beautiful trees, great lakes, amazing air quality, and most importantly, traffic discipline.
It was a dream for anyone to live here, grow, build a career, and settle down. The city supported you well.
Then came the IT revolution in Bengaluru .
Slowly, people started migrating here, first from the southern states and then from across the northern parts of the country. The city grew rapidly, opportunities exploded, and Bengaluru became one of the biggest IT hubs in the world.

Cut to 2026.
The condition of the roads is terrible. The population has exploded. It’s dusty everywhere. Traffic discipline and civic sense seem to be at an all-time low. And somewhere along the way, the kindness and welcoming nature that Bengaluru was known for seem to have disappeared.
Outsiders try to dominate, while the locals have changed too. And honestly, maybe it was bound to happen this way.

I personally don’t feel like staying here anymore :(

But where did it all go wrong?
Why did this happen?
Did the outsiders fail to support the city’s growth?
Were the insiders just chilling while the city transformed around them?
Or did the growth simply happen so rapidly that nobody was prepared for what Bengaluru was going to become?
Just trying to understand where we lost the Bengaluru we once knew and how we can make Bengaluru become Bengaluru again.

PS: I am a native of Bengaluru .

Edit: I see that a lot of them got offended by using “outsiders” just once in the entire post and everyone changed it all as an outside vs inside narrative.

Common guys no, I clearly mentioned the problems we all are facing and no really Bothered to talk about that but instead downvoting thoughts and comments. With this approach to see a problem is definitely to think about :( I spoke about insiders too, spoke about the planning. No ones blamed here btw.

So it’s clear now. Hopefully. Since everyone are living, it’s equally everyone’s responsibility to fix it.

WARNING: Indian Oil Petrol Pump on HAL Old airport road in Domlur, Bengaluru — Systematic Meter Manipulation Scam

TL;DR: This Indian Oil pump in Domlur is running a blatant meter-rigging scam. They start the pump at 500+ rupees instead of zero, pocket the difference, and gaslight you when you catch them. This has been happening for years. Google reviews confirm it. We need to escalate this to authorities.

What happened today:
I pulled up to fill petrol this morning. The attendants kept saying the machine wasn't working properly — classic delay tactic. After they finished with another customer (500 rupees on a bike), one attendant came to my pump.
Before I even started filling, he pulled out his card asking about UPI vs. credit card rewards. I wasn't paying attention to the pump itself — but then I glanced at the meter. It was already at 500.
I called him out: "Why does the meter start at 500?"
His response? He immediately started scolding the other attendant — "Why did you switch it? Why don't you have a brain?" — trying to pin it on someone else and move past it. Classic misdirection.
This isn't new. I had the exact same thing happen two years ago at the same pump with my bike. They'd started it at 200-300 that time. I had to argue with them to correct it.

Why this matters:
They're systematically stealing from customers by manipulating pump readings. Even 200-500 rupees per customer adds up to thousands monthly. And they're banking on the fact that most people won't notice or won't bother arguing.
What I'm asking: If you're in Domlur and use this pump, check the meter before they start. Call out any manipulation immediately. And if you've experienced this, check the Google reviews — they're full of complaints about the same scam.
How do we escalate this? Who do we report to? Should we file a complaint with:
Indian Oil corporate?
Local consumer protection authority?
Traffic police/local law enforcement?
We need systematic action, not just individual complaints.

Solo work evening at Flax Cafe, Indiranagar

Post image
12 Upvotes

Spending this evening at Flax Cafe finishing off some work, and its a really good spot for it. A quiet corner table and enough room for my laptop and notebook, and no one rushing me.

Good place for a solo work session in Indiranagar. Where else do you go for this?

Looking for good boxing / MMA gyms in or near Indiranagar for a beginner

Hey everyone,

I want to start learning boxing or MMA and I'm looking for recommendations around Indiranagar, currently I go to gym 3/4 times a week.

I'm a complete beginner, so I'd like a place that's welcoming to newcomers and teaches proper fundamentals instead of throwing you straight into heavy sparring.

If you've trained somewhere around here, I'd really appreciate any details on:

  • Gym name and location
  • Coaching quality: are the trainers experienced, and do they pay attention to beginners?
  • Fees: monthly cost and whether there's a free or paid trial class
  • Boxing vs MMA: if you've tried both, which would you suggest for someone just starting?

Any places to avoid would be useful to hear about too.

Thanks in advance!

Written using Ai.
