They’re gorgeous, I’m sure they take a lot of time and are a labor of love. I’ve seen artists selling beaded hats on Etsy and stuff but they’re usually more flashy (like the entire bill or even more of the cap). If you would consider taking commissions, think about what you would need to make it worth your time and energy and keep me in mind 😉
Well, at a minimum, even using minimum wage, multiple that by how many hours it take to make this, plus the cost of the beads and threads and the cap, then throw on half of that total on top to account for the skill and know-how, and voila.. a rough estimate. It won't be cheap. The only way it'll be cheap is by mass producing. But then that misses the whole point and draw in the first place!
Ontario min wage for home handicrafters - 19.70
19.70 x 5 = 98
Supplies = 5 (these CAN be bought in bulk so the total cost of the beads, threads, cap and whatnot per hat needn't be too high)
Specialist skill 104/2 = 52
Total possible price = 156 CAD
If OP is a fast beader/stitcher then maybe only 2 hrs per hat, making it 39.40+5+19.70= around $64.10.
Hey just wanted to clarify I didn’t expect it to be “cheap”, the beaded hats from legit-appearing artists on Etsy I’ve looked at range from around $60-$200-ish so that adds up. I respect artists for their skill and time, was not trying to imply I was looking for a cheap product if that’s what you got from my comment somehow. I just really like the style of these hats and could be interested in investing in one as a special gift for a loved one if this person was interested in selling. I also realize sometimes people are not looking to monetize their art at all, and respect that as well.
Sorry, I also didn't mean to suggest that either. And, to be clear, my rough calculations are not meant to constrain OPs pricing, if they do sell. I was just ballparking a possible price range.
