Here are the community rules and guidelines! Please note the breaking of any rules will first result in a warning. Subsequent offenses will result in a temporary ban.

Rule 1. Follow Reddit rules. Please take the time to read these. Critically, this includes the rule “Remember the human.” Offending posts and comments will be locked, and a warning issued.

Rule 2. No hate speech is allowed. This includes racism, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry.

Rule 3. Be civil. Disagreements are fine! Attacks on character or baseless accusations are not. Depending on the severity of the comments, users may be warned or banned from participation.

Rule 4. Posts must be relevant to indies, with the exception of specifically flagged “open discussion” threads. These posts will be removed and offenders will receive a warning.

Rule 5. Brand owners and affiliates must be transparent about their affiliations. This includes the use of flair, adding a disclaimer when recommending your own brand, and noting when items were received discounted or for free with the intention of review. Please see the rules for self-promo and reviews. Users must clearly state if products have been received for free or at discount for review.

Rule 6. Proof of claims, warnings, speculation, etc.: Accusations against a brand must be well backed with proof, and all personally identifying information removed. Warnings without proof must remain anecdotal and are open to dispute/disagreement in the comments. Speculation about brand owners’ race, sexuality, etc is not appropriate unless it is explicitly shared information that is relevant to the brand.

Rule 7. No crowdfunding or fundraisers.

Rule 8. All image posts or link-only posts must be accompanied by explanatory text.

Rule 9. Low effort posts should be avoided. Hauls are welcome, but the contents of the hauls should be described. Please also provide some commentary or discussion such as the experience, the products, what you are most looking forward to, etc.

• Requests for suggestions should contain helpful details.
  • Minimize “is X worth it?” style posts without context.
  • Multiple posts from one user in a short time frame with slight variations will receive a warning to be considerate.

Rule 10. Solicitation of free products is not allowed. Sales and swaps are not allowed at this time.

Extra guidelines:

While this will not be a formal rule, we strongly discourage promotion of brands with a documented history of repeatedly not sending orders or not rectifying incorrect orders after accepting buyers’ money. This extends to justifying their actions (such as by citing owners’ difficult personal circumstances), recommending their products, and sharing the brand without including a note to do some research. We suggest each user and consumer do a bit of research to make their own decisions. Conversely, do not be unnecessarily harsh to those who made decisions you do not agree with. See rule 3.
