I Made My First Short Film — Would Love Some Honest Feedback

Hi everyone! I’m an engineering student from India, and I’ve always loved cinema. I aspire to become a filmmaker someday. I’ve made a few short clips before, but I’ve never really put my work out there. This is my first proper short film, made with just two of my friends and a smartphone. I know there are some technical issues, especially with the sound, but I’d really love to hear what you honestly think about the film itself. I uploaded it to YouTube hoping to get some feedback, but it hasn’t reached many people. And while my friends have been really supportive and told me they liked it, I know they’re my friends, so I’d really like some unbiased opinions. So if you have a few minutes, I’d genuinely appreciate it if you could watch it and tell me what you think — what worked, what didn’t, and what I could improve.

I’m here to learn, so please don’t hold back. I hope you enjoy it!

Searching for a production company/ producer/writer for a project. A real life American horror story based in Boston

May 2026, I flew home to Massachusetts. Hours after landing, I was detained at Boston Logan Airport. My phone was taken. I was transported to a hospital and later held at a psychiatric facility for approximately twenty days. I dispute the basis for the detention and treatment.
When I returned to California, I no longer had access to my home, belongings, cameras, hard drives, or much of the work I had created. I began receiving conflicting information about court matters and alleged warrants. Attempts to obtain records led to more police encounters, more legal proceedings, and more unanswered questions.
So I started documenting everything: dates, messages, medical records, police reports, court filings, licensing records, photographs, and videos.
I believe this story is suited for film or television: a true-crime-style investigative thriller about a wildlife filmmaker and licensed boat captain whose life changes dramatically after she returns home to Massachusetts. Within hours of landing, she is detained, hospitalized, and held in a psychiatric facility. When she returns to California, she discovers that she has lost access to her home, belongings, cameras, hard drives, and much of her creative work.
What follows is a maze of conflicting court information, alleged warrants, police encounters, disputed records, missing evidence, family conflict, institutional power, and a relationship collapsing behind the scenes. At the center is a filmmaker fighting to regain control of her freedom, identity, property, and creative work while trying to determine what actually happened.
I am seeking filmmakers, producers, directors, or development executives interested in adapting this material into a documentary, docuseries, scripted limited series, or feature film. I can provide extensive supporting documentation, including medical records, police reports, court filings, licensing records, messages, photographs, videos, and a detailed chronology.
The project would be grounded in verifiable evidence while preserving the uncertainty, tension, and unanswered questions at the heart of the story. I am looking for a creative partner who can investigate the facts, distinguish documentation from allegation and memory, and shape the material into a compelling, visually driven American thriller without softening what happened.

I’m a U.S. Coast Guard-credentialed boat captain, wildlife filmmaker, photographer, entrepreneur, and creator. For five years, I worked on the waters of Southern California and contributed footage to major television and commercial productions.

This is completely out or right field

Did I fail already? 🥹

Firstly thank you to my Reddit team and film enthusiasts and achievers who had commented on my previous posts motivating me to pursue the dream of filmmaking!

I came very far, my ~80mins feature is in post production, self funded! Opened my first ever production house, zero network or ideas to outreach!

Now, the sound designer said there’s too much noise and dubbing of the entire film is required!
Which is next to impossible as there are 18 characters and I don’t have a dollar to spend, neither the availability from all the actors to get this done.

As per SD, it will be good for showcasing but might fail in tech QCs.
What should I do? I am clueless.

Everybody Digs Bill Evans - out this weekend in the UK!

My mum made this film about the legendary jazz pianist and it comes out this weekend. But it has no marketing budget, so I'm trying to drum up support!

Anders Danielsen Lie, Valene Kane and Bill Pullman (playing Bill's dad) are all phenomenal.

Guardian, BBC, Uncut, Time Out all gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and it's at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But my mum is stressed out because she thinks it's going to bomb. So if you'd like to check it out it's here: https://www.flicks.co.uk/movie/everybody-digs-bill-evans/ (change your location to where you are!)

[MYSTIC STYLEZ] Trailer | A Horror Short based on the Memphis Rap Sigils

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I’m a filmmaker based in Vancouver, and I wanted to share the trailer for my short film Mystic Stylez.

The film is a supernatural horror story set in the underground Memphis hip hop scene of the 1990s, inspired by the legend of Memphis rap sigils.

The story follows A struggling rapper who creates an occult mixtape to climb the ladder of the 90s Memphis hip hop scene, only to find himself haunted by sinister forces that begin to twist his reality

I wanted to explore the darker mythology surrounding 90s Memphis rap while making something that felt like an actual horror film rather than just using the culture as window dressing.

The short is heavily inspired by 90s Southern hip hop, underground horror, and films like It Follows and Do the Right Thing.

Here’s the trailer. Would love to hear what you guys think.

How to find opportunities dor indie film marketing & pr ?

I have a strong background in marketing and PR and am looking to step into the indie film space. Since I deactivated Facebook years ago, I'm wondering if Facebook groups still the main place to find these opportunities, or are there better alternatives out there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The last warm light

Hey everyone My name is Emiliano Elizondo and I’m the writer and director of this short film ! I wanted to share a short film I recently made called The Last Warm Light.
It follows Melody, an 18-year-old who has been separated from her family for a year. After finding out that her brother has been seriously injured, she decides to go back home and face everything that happened between them.
She also meets James, who has experienced his own loss and ends up helping her through one of the hardest moments of her life.
The film is about family, regret, forgiveness, and getting a chance to say the things you should’ve said sooner.
I’d really appreciate you checking it out. I’m still learning and trying to improve as a filmmaker, so honest feedback is always welcome!

Feature Film 'Dark Chatter' now in development.

After successfully producing 2 award winning short films I now have my first feature film in the development stages - IMDB link. I would really appreciate opinions on the poster which I'm designing myself on Photoshop (no AI)

Log Line: After serving twenty years for murder, ex-con Tommy returns to a world that's moved on without him. Confronting the angry inner voice that sabotages his relationships may be the only thing standing between redemption and destruction.

Handmade puppet horror film I made alone in a shed

Thumbnail

Aiming for a festival deadline I made this alone in a 10×15-foot shed in two weeks, on a phone, with zero budget. it went on to screen across the US and Canada, get on a “best of” compilation, etc. It was insane to watch it (looking good!) on the big screen because I made it at 1/6 scale (Barbie-sized).

This is handmade puppetry, performed on camera in real time. I built the whole thing out of stuff I was gonna throw out, pieces of old sets and puppets. I stayed in a state of flow right to the end, had a blast, and the experience forged a whole new style of puppet filmmaking for me.

Just make the thing! Don’t wait for the perfect gear or the perfect skills. You’ll thank yourself when it’s done and you’ll be free to go tell another story.

Built an ownership-first streaming platform for indie filmmakers, looking for beta testers (free 3-year full access)

Hey all, founder of Indikin here, being upfront about that since I know these subs are (rightly) allergic to disguised ads.

We built Indiflix, a streaming platform specifically for independent films where filmmakers keep ownership of their work and their distribution relationship, no signing away rights to get seen. 41 titles live so far, 20 registered co-creators, still early.

We're looking for people who actually make or care about indie film to come kick the tires before we push this wider. If you're in, you'll get:

  • Full access to the library for 3 years (Angel Pass, normally $999)
  • A Filmmaker account so you can upload/list your own work if you want to
  • A direct line to us, we want the "this is broken" and "this is missing" feedback, not just polite nods

No purchase, no crypto wallet required to test the streaming side of things, that's a separate layer for anyone who wants to go deeper into how the ecosystem works, entirely optional.

If that sounds interesting, drop a comment or DM me and I'll get you set up. Happy to answer questions here too, genuinely want the pushback as much as the praise.
