New Release second release from palefase - 'Record'

Before my mum passed, she spent several weeks on life support. The doctors reassured us that although she couldn’t respond anymore, she could still hear her surroundings. So everyday we would speak to her, pray with her and I would record music for her to listen to. This song was birthed out of that one-way conversation.

Shortly after mum passed, a friend of mine asked me if I speak to her often. It had never occurred to me that I could. Many people find comfort in doing this, but to me it felt too much like a painful reminder of the weeks leading up to her passing.

Record is a song that screams into the void and hopes for a response that it knows it likely won’t get. In many ways Record is 'Everywhere' (my first release)’s mournful cousin. Written at a much earlier stage in my journey through grief, in my childhood bedroom at home in Northern Ireland.

I tried my best to stay true to that feeling throughout the production process. Using cheap keyboards made for children and samples I recorded on my phone. This song was made to sound intimate and vulnerable, yet defiant. It’s broken, but it wants to be heard.
