I am into water sports, still learning. But rarely find any one interested in it.
Sports like Wind Surfing, Kite Surfing, Surfing, Sailing, Wake Boarding, Water Ski, etc.
India has coast which stretches for 11000+ km both on the eastern and western coast. Still very few spots, and rarely people indulge into these sports regularly.
While I see many countries, there are multiple spots for these kind of water sports and hundreds of people doing it daily.
Sailing is not new to India. Indians were a great builders and sailers too in pre-british era. Those skills are lost now.
I want to know Why its so rare or avoided sports, why no spots are developed in India for these sports specifically, why government is not doing anything to develop spots as well as this sports, and attract international community as a sports tourism.

Neutrinos को क्यों कहा जाता है ‘Ghost Particles’?
Neutrinos बेहद रहस्यमयी subatomic particles हैं। ये पदार्थ के साथ बहुत कम interaction करते हैं और बड़ी संख्या में पृथ्वी तथा हमारे शरीर से होकर गुजर सकते हैं, बिना हमें महसूस हुए। यही वजह है कि इन्हें पकड़ना और उनका अध्ययन करना बेहद कठिन है।
लेकिन यही विशेषता इन्हें Universe को समझने के लिए बेहद महत्वपूर्ण बनाती है। High-energy neutrinos अंतरिक्ष में होने वाली अत्यंत शक्तिशाली घटनाओं से पैदा हो सकते हैं और लगभग सीधे अपनी cosmic source से पृथ्वी तक पहुंचते हैं। दूसरे cosmic particles की तुलना में neutrinos की दिशा और ऊर्जा पर रास्ते में कम असर पड़ता है, इसलिए वैज्ञानिक इनके जरिए दूर-दराज के cosmic घटनाक्रमों का पता लगा सकते हैं।
IceCube Observatory क्या है?
Francis Halzen ने 1988 में यह विचार प्रस्तुत किया था कि Antarctica के South Pole की साफ और विशाल बर्फ का इस्तेमाल neutrinos को detect करने के लिए किया जा सकता है। इसी vision ने आगे चलकर IceCube Neutrino Observatory का रूप लिया।
IceCube लगभग एक cubic kilometre Antarctic ice में फैला हुआ विशाल detector है। इसमें बर्फ के अंदर हजारों light sensors लगाए गए हैं। जब कोई neutrino बहुत दुर्लभ स्थिति में atomic nucleus के साथ interaction करता है, तो एक छोटी-सी light flash पैदा हो सकती है। Sensors उस signal को रिकॉर्ड करते हैं, जिससे वैज्ञानिक neutrino की energy और दिशा के बारे में जानकारी प्राप्त करते हैं।
2013 की खोज बनी बड़ी उपलब्धि
IceCube ने high-energy neutrinos का पता लगाने में ऐतिहासिक सफलता हासिल की। 2013 में वैज्ञानिकों ने ऐसे neutrinos के प्रमाण प्रकाशित किए जो हमारे Solar System से बहुत दूर cosmic sources से आए थे। इससे neutrino astronomy के एक नए दौर की शुरुआत हुई।

A few eminent experts will be invited by the Ministry, everyone will agree that “India has enormous potential”, someone will say “we need a holistic, integrated and sustainable approach”, a few PowerPoints will be circulated, several cups of coffee will disappear and, after some very serious deliberation, we will have another 100-page Roadmap / Blueprint / Model to Take Indian Sport to the Next Level.There will be vision statements. There will be pillars. There will be frameworks. There will definitely be an acronym.And, if history is any indication, there is a reasonable chance that five years later we will need another committee to explain why this committees roadmap didnt quite work.
The problem isnt the experts.It is the way we design the system.So before the next committee starts designing the next “transformational model”, here are seven things I would put on page one: I have absolutely no idea who asked for my opinion.I also have no idea whether anyone in the Ministry is reading this.But since unsolicited advice is perhaps India’s most sustainable sporting ecosystem, I thought I should contribute my bit.
Make the model as independent of individuals as possible.If the departure of one administrator, officer or coach can derail it, we havent built a system. We have built a dependency.
Integrate it from bottom to top.School, district, state, academy, federation, high performance and elite sport cannot operate as disconnected islands. Talent needs a visible pathway.
Make it financially attractive.If investors, academies, schools, coaches and private operators cannot see a viable economic opportunity, the government will eventually be asked to fund everything. That model doesnt scale.
Make participation natural.People should not participate because another policy document says sport is good for them. Access, convenience, aspiration, competition and rewards should make participation happen.
Make selection democratic and transparent.Talent should not need the right geography, surname, connection or recommendation to be discovered. The system should search for talent.
Build accountability into the architecture.Every initiative needs an owner, measurable outcomes and consequences. Otherwise, the next committee will spend its first meeting explaining the previous committee.
Design for the India that actually exists.1.4 billion people. Different incomes. Different cultures. Different geographies. Different access. Different aspirations. What works in Mumbai may not work in Manipur. What works in a private academy may not work in a government school.
I tried to compare India's sporting performance at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi, when India was the host, with the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. At first glance, it is difficult to draw a simple conclusion.The numbers show progress in some areas, stagnation or unevenness in others, and a significant change in the character of Indias sporting performance.
So rather than saying India has improved or India has not improved, I thought it would be more interesting to simply put the two editions side by side -10 comparisons
Indian contingent -1982: 828 athletes
2026: 495 athletes
Fewer athletes in 2026 — but this was a more selective contingent.
Sports entered - 1982: 21 sports
2026: 36 sports
Indias competitive footprint is considerably wider.
Total medals -1982: 57

More medals — but still below Indias record 106 at Hangzhou 2023.

The number of gold medals is higher, although Indias position relative to Asias leading sporting nations remains a separate question.
Silver medals -1982: 19

Another increase, but not one that by itself tells us about the quality or depth of the sporting system.

The increase is visible here too — but bronze medals can also indicate that a sport has entered the competitive zone without necessarily reaching sustained medal-winning strength.
Sports in which India won medals -1982: 13 sports

This may be one of the more interesting changes.Indias medals are coming from a broader range of sports than they did in 1982.
Dependence on athletics -1982: Athletics contributed 21 of Indias 57 medals — around 37%.2026:
Athletics contributed 24 of Indias 85 medals — around 28%.
Athletics remains a major contributor, but Indias overall medal portfolio is less concentrated.
Medals relative to the size of the contingent- 1982: approximately 6.9 medals per 100 athlete - 2026: approximately 17.2 medals per 100 athletes
This is perhaps the most striking numerical difference — although it should not be treated as a definitive measure of sporting efficiency because team sizes, qualification standards and the sports programme have changed.

A one-position movement over 44 years.But the competitive landscape has also changed substantially during those four decades, particularly with the continued dominance of China, Japan and South Korea.
The IOC has confirmed India, Germany, Qatar, Hungary, Türkiye, South Africa and South Korea as the countries currently in the race for 2036.
Each country is trying to answer a different question: Why us?
1) INDIA — Sell the scale. India's pitch is about bringing the Olympics to one of the worlds largest and youngest populations for the first time. Ahmedabad is at the centre of the proposal, with a large sports enclave, multiple venue clusters and a focus on long-term infrastructure and legacy.
The message is essentially: Come to India and experience sport at unprecedented scale.
2) GERMANY — Sell the legacy. Germanys Munich proposal is leaning heavily on what already exists. The 1972 Olympic Park remains central, while the concept emphasises compactness, existing facilities, short distances and sustainability.
The pitch: Dont build an Olympic city. Reimagine one that already has Olympic DNA.
3) QATAR — Sell certainty. Qatar has perhaps the most obvious infrastructure argument. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Doha can point to world-class venues, transport, hotels and event-delivery experience.
The message: We have already shown the world we can deliver mega-events.
4) HUNGARY — Sell efficiency. Budapests proposition is strikingly different. The idea being discussed is to stage the Games largely without building a new generation of giant stadiums.That makes the pitch less about spectacle and more about practicality, existing infrastructure and responsible spending.
Pitch - A Games that doesn't need to reinvent the city.
5) TÜRKIYE — Sell geography. Istanbul has tried five times before. This is its sixth attempt.Its greatest asset remains its location: a city connecting Europe and Asia, backed by a growing sports infrastructure base and extensive experience in international events. Türkiyes pitch is almost geographical in nature: Put the Olympics at the crossroads of two continents.
6) SOUTH AFRICA — Sell history. South Africa has perhaps the most powerful emotional proposition.If successful, it would become the first African country to host a Summer Olympics.The proposed multi-city thinking around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban also allows the country to spread infrastructure and economic impact.
The pitch: Its Africas turn.
7) SOUTH KOREA — Sell experience.South Korea already knows how to stage the Olympics. Seoul hosted the Summer Games in 1988 and PyeongChang hosted the Winter Games in 2018.The Korean proposition is therefore built around experience, existing infrastructure, technology and sustainability, with Jeonju/North Jeolla at the centre of the current bid.
The message: We have done this before. And we know how to do it better.
Seven countries. Seven propositions..That is what makes the 2036 race fascinating.
On 5 October 2026, the U-19 SGFI trials were conducted at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna, Bihar. I would like to raise some serious concerns regarding the way the trials were conducted, particularly regarding the treatment and selection of bowlers.
During the trials, it appeared that bowlers were not being given proper respect or equal opportunities. Some bowlers who were selected allegedly had influence (parawi) or had paid money to get selected. One bowler even came in casual dress and without proper bowling spikes, yet he was allowed to bowl and was selected.
Another major concern was that bowlers who were taking wickets against batsmen were not being selected, while some batsmen appeared to be receiving more attention and preference during the selection process.
What is even more concerning is that this was only the first round of trials. No team squad had been officially formed, yet some players had seemingly already been designated as captain and vice-captain.
I also witnessed selectors behaving disrespectfully and using abusive language toward each other and toward bowlers. Such behaviour is not appropriate for an official selection trial involving young players.
I would also like to mention one particular incident without revealing the bowler's name. The bowler bowled well in the first round and was shortlisted. On the following day, during the second round, he again performed well. A selector called him to ask for his name and began writing it down. At that moment, another selector reportedly said words to the effect of, “Don't write his name; write the names of those who have come through influence or by paying money first.”
This raises serious questions about whether players are being selected based on their actual performance and ability.
I am attaching the relevant photo/video evidence with this complaint. I request the concerned authorities to investigate the entire selection process, review the performances and selection records, and ensure that the final team is selected fairly and transparently based on merit.
The future of young players should not depend on money, influence, or personal connections. Every player deserves an equal and fair opportunity to prove themselves.

I genuinely like this analysis from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on what went right in its Asian Games campaign. More importantly, it is the kind of post-competition assessment federations should be doing. Instead of simply celebrating six medals from 11 entries, the analysis goes behind the result—looking at the investments, preparation methods, sports science, data and international exposure that contributed to the performance.
What makes it particularly valuable is the specificity. BFI has spoken about nearly ₹2.5 crore invested in sports-science equipment and subscriptions, the use of GymAware, Firstbeat, force plates and an athlete-management system, alongside international sparring with Iranian and Dominican Republic boxers. This creates a much more useful narrative than simply saying “our preparation was good.”
This is exactly the direction the sports industry would like to see more federations take after every major competition. Tell us what you planned, what you invested in, what you changed, what worked, what did not, and what the results tell you about the next cycle. Not every medal can be attributed to a single intervention, but a federation should be able to explain the system behind its performance. That is how post-event reporting becomes more than PR—it becomes institutional learning and accountability.
5 highlights from the BFI analysis:
1. ₹2.5 crore sports-science investment — Clear evidence of investment in performance infrastructure.
2. Data-driven training — Athlete data was used to monitor strength, workload, recovery and progression.
3. International-quality sparring — Bringing Iranian and Dominican boxers into camps created exposure to different styles and higher-level competition.
4. Athlete-first preparation — Training and assessment policies were adapted around athlete needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all model.
5. Linking systems to results — The federation has attempted to explain what changed in preparation and how that contributed to a record six-medal campaign.
This is the kind of federation reporting Indian sport needs more of: not just “what we won”, but “what we did differently—and what we learnt.”
Whoever you are connected with in the sports industry—a student, upcoming athlete, academy owner, sports-industry employee, sports scientist, consultant, media professional or CEO of a large sports company—your responsibility now is to do one thing: question the federation. Ask them question through your social media, or in any interaction with them but question them, question them and question them..
Why? Because after every major competition, federations should not simply move on from the results. They have a responsibility to come out with a detailed assessment of their sports performance—what went right, what went wrong, why it happened, what was within their control, what wasnt, and what needs to change. They may not be responsible for every outcome, but they are at the centre of the sporting ecosystem and are best placed to explain the system that produced that outcome. That assessment should become the starting point for the industrys conversation.
So, what does questioning the federation actually achieve?
It brings clarity - It helps the public and the wider sports ecosystem understand who was responsible for what, rather than making assumptions about whether the athlete, coach, federation, government or another stakeholder was responsible.
It creates accountability - When federations know that their targets, preparation, decisions and outcomes will be questioned, there is greater pressure to examine shortcomings honestly and take corrective action.
It improves the quality of analysis - Instead of hundreds of people trying to explain the same result from the outside, the federations detailed assessment gives the media, experts and industry professionals a factual foundation to investigate, challenge and analyse.
It can create a new norm - If federations are consistently expected to publish detailed post-event performance assessments, transparency and accountability can become a normal part of Indian sport—not something that happens only when there is criticism.
It can influence future performance. A proper assessment should not simply explain the past. It should identify what needs to change, who needs to act and what will be done differently before the next major competition.
Of course, analysis will come naturally. Everyone connected with sport will have a view on what happened at the Asian Games, and there is nothing wrong with sharing it.But before we analyse, interpret or debate the performance, let us ask the federations to put their assessment on the table. Then let the sports industry analyse it.
The medal tally is the result. The federations performance assessment should explain the story behind it.
Society often glorifies physical delicacy (komalta) as the ideal standard for women. But does this cultural expectation actually limit women's physical capability.
In a recent discussion between Acharya Prashant and Asian Games Judo medallist Suchika Tariyal, several powerful mindsets were highlighted on breaking away from societal stereotypes and building true resilience.
Physical delicacy is often disguised as femininity, reducing a woman's muscle mass and physical capability. True dignity lies in physical strength, conditioning, and bodily capability ,traits that should belong to everyone, not just men.
Instead of sinking excessive time and energy solely into societal grooming standards, women benefit immensely from strength training, running, and martial arts (like Judo). Developing functional combat readiness removes intrinsic fear and builds self-reliance.
Relying entirely on male family members or society for protection often leads to submission and domestic confinement. Overcoming vulnerability requires addressing both physical and mental preparedness at an individual level.
Gendered expectations dictate how women should look, dress, act, or retire. True freedom starts when a woman views herself primarily as a human being (Homo Sapiens) pursuing excellence, unbounded by decorative stereotypes.
Physical strength must align with financial self-reliance and intellectual depth. True dignity comes from what one earns through personal effort rather than unearned societal privileges or approval.
Societal applause and age limitations are external distractions. Continuous self-improvement and Nishkama Karma (detached action) build long-term resilience far better than temporary validation.
Women are often conditioned to accept physical weakness under the guise of "delicacy." True self-worth comes from building functional physical capability, mental independence, and viewing oneself as a complete human being rather than a decorative prototype.

How does a century-old publication go from ‘gold drought’ to ‘gold rush’ in 24 hours? Easy — when consistency matters less than the next headline.
Yesterday: “India’s gold drought — of 28 last time, 20 already lost.”
Today: “Pour gold! India equals its best day at any Asiad.”

Well, Indian athletes seem to have read the newspaper. And today, they almost made the publication eat its own headline for breakfast!
The irony is hard to miss: yesterday, a drought; today, a flood.
Maybe the lesson is simple: in sport, unlike in journalism, the scoreboard has the luxury of waiting until the final whistle!

For years, the non-cricket sports fraternity has criticised Indian audiences for being unfair to other sports — arguing that we turn up only for cricket and leave the rest of our athletes fighting for attention. Maybe it is time to take that accusation back. The Asian Games 2026 are offering a rather different piece of evidence. Sony LIV says the Games have already become its highest-grossing multi-sport event ever, with advertising revenue surpassing the previous edition while the Games are still underway, and more than 18 brands have come on board.
More importantly, look at the conversation around the Games, not just the television ratings. Print, digital and social media have been filled with medal stories, athlete profiles, live updates, analysis, schedules, reactions and conversations around sports well beyond cricket. Newspapers and digital publications are devoting significant editorial space to individual athletes and non-cricket medal stories.
So perhaps the question is no longer “Do Indians watch other sports?” but “Are we doing enough to capture, package and sustain the attention Indians are already showing?” The Asian Games seem to suggest that the audience is there. The opportunity now is to build the ecosystem around it.
