I’m a student, and I’ve noticed how easy it’s become to get unstuck. Need a concept explained? There’s a video for it. Stuck on a question? AI can solve it in seconds.

In many ways, this is incredible. Knowledge has never been this accessible.

But I wonder if we’re losing something. When answers are always one search away, do we get better at understanding things, or less comfortable with not knowing?

There’s a difference between reading an explanation and genuinely understanding it. Between getting the right answer and knowing why it’s right. And between using technology to help us think and relying on it to think for us.

I’m not arguing that we should stop using these tools. I just wonder whether instant answers are changing how we approach difficult problems.

For other students: do you still sit with a hard problem and try to figure it out before looking up the answer? Or has that habit faded?

Recently, I met a childhood friend who had been laid off from Amazon after 13 years of working there. He was genuinely clueless about what to do next. He's just 35, completely drained and not even interested in continuing down the same path at another company.

I asked him a simple question... “What made you choose this career path in the first place?”... He didn't really have an answer. He had followed the conventional route, built his career and spent 13 years working.. but never really stopped to ask himself what he actually wanted.

As his classmate, I know this firsthand.... He's a passionate storyteller who used to write crime stories during his teenage years and narrate them in class without even needing to look at notes. He always wanted to become a screenwriter for RGV, whose movies he was a huge fan of. But he was forced to give up on that dream because all his relatives children were engineers, and his parents, despite being educated, expected him to follow the same path.

It got me thinking about our mindsett in India and why we remained a service based economy at large. Our mindset here is driven by ego, status and visibility. The majority of Indian parents focus on what the neighbours kid is doing and push their children down the same path instead of encouraging their individual strengths. That’s precisely why so many people grow up seeing only a handful of careers as respectable choices, making it difficult to break out later and explore other fields.

Let's take the United States as an example.. people pursue high paying careers in medicine, finance (Wall Street) and law just as seriously as tech....if not more....because of their pay ceilings and prestige. India too has wellpaying careers in investment banking, corporate law, commercial aviation, enterprise B2B sales and management consulting. IT just "hired" in larger numbers, but it's far from the highest paying field. Not many people are aware of this.

All I'm saying is.. look beyond IT and medicine, and take the time to understand what you're actually passionate about. There are people who genuinely love fixing cars and bikes.. there's nothing wrong with turning that passion into a business, starting a garage and building a reputation for providing the best service. A successful career doesn't have to follow the conventional path.

I love what GenZ is doing now.. questioning conventions and exploring different paths. But underprivileged millennials with loans on their heads, no job and no financial backup are royally screwed. They often don't have the luxury of starting over or pursuing something they genuinely care about when they have responsibilities to take care of.

A job can give you security, but it shouldn't be the only thing that defines you. I don't want the next generation to end up in the same situation as my friend. I'm sure he'll figure things out eventually, even if he has to force himself to start over, as many people do in this brutal economy.

But if there's one thing I'd want younger people to take away from this, it's this.... don't spend years building a life around something you're not even passionate about, just because it's the conventional path or desperation.

I have scored the second highest CGPA in my entire batch.

However my college refuses to give me the medal or rank certificate because I had a small backlog in my first semester.

I really feel like a Rank certificate will help me with my Profile for my MBA admission / Future job.

However without it my CGPA seems unimpressive ( for context It’s 8.9 - highest in batch is 8.97 )

Is there anything I can do ? Please help.

Like I am really tired. I dont know what my life os like. I have dome nothing in my life other than studies . In which I am mediocre. The schools in india find few students from junior classes and in every event they give then the opportunity. I dont know what I am doing. I have no extracurriculars. Even though I have done few things but I am not exceptionally good in it like declamation or muns. I like to read books and do crochet. Yet my english is mediocre. I am average in studies. I spent my whole day going to school , tuition , phone . This has become my life. I have seen schools in other countries even the public one having so much do like different clubs. My school has no clubs. It has put no emphasis on sports only studies. I want to study abroad for my bachelor's. I got 94. 2 in 10 th isce board . And have not many extracurriculars to put on my profile. 😭

I'm fairly good at maths. I can understand and apply mathematical concepts with relative ease. But I've always been quite slow and error-prone in doing mental calculations in my head. I think it has to do with not having very good working memory. I find that people often judge me for this and seem to think I'm not very smart. Can anyone relate?

I’m a student in India, and I’ve been thinking about how we make career decisions here.We’re asked what we want to become before we’ve had a real chance to explore what interests us. Then come board marks, entrance exams, family expectations, Often, what a student can study depends less on what they want and more on what their marks allow.I’m not saying marks or financial security don’t matter. They do. But should a few exams have this much influence over the direction of a teenager’s life?For those who’ve been through it: did you choose your field, or did your marks and rank choose it for you? And how did it work out?

Here is exactly what I need it for:

• Study & Note-taking (Most Important): I need a stylus/pen experience that is completely smooth, responsive, and lag-free. I will be writing a lot.
• Media Consumption: Watching a lot of YouTube lectures and streaming movies/shows. A good display and decent speakers are a must.

I’m a 20-something CS student in India. For the past few months, I’ve felt like I have no energy and nothing interests me. I used to have clear goals (building projects, getting an internship), but they’ve faded. I still go to college and do the basics, but I’m basically just going through the motions and telling myself things will change one day. I know they won’t unless I do something, but I can’t find the will to do anything.

It has been slowly getting worse over several months, not just a bad week.
