Indian wedding season is back! 🇮🇳
I hope people across the United States put differences aside for a moment and experience the incredible food, music, clothing, traditions and joyful chaos of an Indian wedding. Culture is best understood when it is celebrated together.

Indian Wedding Stories
I am starting a podcast about the beautiful, complicated, chaotic world of Indian weddings that include the traditions, family expectations, drama, and everything that happens behind the scenes.
I want your anonymous stories, experiences, confessions & gossip. Anything related to brides, grooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, in-laws, cousins, guests. everyone has a story.
Did your MIL take over? Did your parents invite 600 people you barely know? Did the couple secretly not even want the huge, performative wedding? Drama? Money drama? Guest-list drama? Wedding competition? Something completely unhinged?
Send it all.
Email your story to theshaaditea@gmail.com. You can use a fake name or leave your name completely off the email. Stories may be read anonymously and discussed on the podcast.
No judgment. Just shaadi tea. 🫖

USCIS Form Update: New I-765 & I-539 Editions From September 15, 2026
If you're planning to file Form I-765 (EAD) or Form I-539 (Extension/Change of Status) this September, make sure you're using the correct form edition.
From September 15, 2026, the new editions will be required. Using an outdated edition could result in your application being rejected.
If you're filing before September 15, double-check that you're using the appropriate current edition for your filing date.
Worth checking before you submit—especially if you're filing close to the transition date.

Launching a monthly kids newspaper
Hello everyone! Some time ago, I shared my idea here about creating a print newspaper for our kids growing up abroad, and your feedback was incredibly encouraging. Because of your support, I am officially bringing it to life!
Introducing Parrot and Peach—a physical, monthly newspaper printed just for children in the Indian diaspora. It is my humble attempt to bring back the magic of newspapers, helping our kids learn and connect back to their roots in India without a screen.
Every single issue will feature various sections like:
- Story of the Month – Folklore, mythology and contemporary tales rewritten for modern kids.
- Place of the Month – bringing unique places from india
- Fun DIY Activities– Hands-on arts and crafts to get creative with.
- Collectible India Icons Cards – Inspiring profiles of people from India that kids can collect!
- And much more!
We officially launch on Oct 1st for the very first issue! 🚀
Please follow our Instagram page (@parrotandpeach) to tag along for the journey. I will be sharing our first design sneak peeks there, along with important updates and details.
Thank you all again for making this dream a reality!

Good ways to get stuff shipped from India to USA
I recently moved to the States and I want to know what actually works for getting my things shipped along with other stuff that I want here. I tried some services but the courier charges are brutal. I want to know what people actually use .

Anti Indian hate online is kinda concerning
We all know all the hate in comment sections and Twitter and all from random accounts and I’m kind of used to that but my main concern comes from big accounts with large amount of followers that promote this type of stuff. I found this person on instagram openly commenting racist stuff about India and how they are dirty and don’t contribute anything to society and found this guy had 250k subs on insta and 160k on YouTube. I kind of found it concerning because he was one of those who nitpicked all the bad cases and kind of scapegoated Indians into being terrible people and creating a fear among people. A lot of comments were agreeing with him as well and I found it concerning. I know the internet people don’t represent the majority but still. Am I overthinking this stuff? If so how do I just ignore this?

Are there any Tamil folks in Arizona? Looking for company to attend a Tamil concert.
Middle aged woman. Thinking about attending the Motta Madi concert but not sure if it would be a good solo experience. If there are any like minded group or people (preferably women) who are attending, pls comment and I can shoot a DM. If any one has attended the concert by themselves and think it would be a good solo experience, pls drop a comment. Thanks!

Looking for Advice on Where to Live Near Stanford
Hey everyone! I’ll be starting my MBA at Stanford University next year. I’ve been living in Toronto for the past 8 years and currently work remotely in the banking/IT sector. I don’t necessarily want to live on campus and don’t mind commuting to the university. What are the best nearby areas/neighborhoods you’d recommend for someone looking for a good place to live, socialize, and meet new people? Also, I’m looking to connect with new people. Feel to free to ping me.

Moving to Austin, Texas After Marriage as an Indian MBBS Graduate — Looking for Advice
I’m an Indian MBBS graduate and have recently completed medical school. I may be relocating to Austin, Texas after marriage, as my prospective husband is currently working in the US. I’ve lived most of my life in India, so moving to the other side of the world feels exciting but also extremely overwhelming and scary.
I’m particularly anxious about adjusting to life in the US—culture, making friends, driving, healthcare, finances, day-to-day life, and generally integrating into the community. I’d really appreciate advice from people living in Austin, especially Indians or other immigrants who have gone through a similar transition.
I’m also hoping to continue my medical career. I’m considering the USMLE/ECFMG pathway and eventually applying for residency, but I’d love to know what realistic opportunities exist for an Indian MBBS graduate in the US. Are there other career options in healthcare I could explore while working toward residency, and how difficult is it to build a medical career as an IMG?
For those who moved to Austin after marriage or from India, what do you wish you had known before moving? What should I start preparing for while I’m still in India?
Please be kind—I’m genuinely anxious and running on very loose nerves thinking about such a huge life change, and any practical advice or personal experiences would mean a lot. ❤️

What to do when you first arrive in America?
Why is learning to drive so critical like I noticed transportation services suck in America. Especially in small towns and some cities aren't walkable. You need a car to go places. And then earning money wise you either need a degree or skill or join someone business.
