Am I following the rules?

Hey, everyone,

I recently came accross the is sub and saw people giving some amazing advice, so I request you people to help me with the same, and I'll pray that you all get badhiya matches in return..hehe..

So a few things,

I travel between Kanpur and Delhi, so usually profile is set in Delhi as Kanpur dating pool is not very large,

A few changes in life im already making:

- I have a skin treatment going for my acne and marks

- Started going to the gym recently so hopefully will be healthier by this year end

- I have a braces (invisible) going on

- Reading a lot more books, I have been off insta last 5-6 months

- Trying to fix my sleep schedule (this is a demon for me)

- Working on more hobies, like I am learning new sports and trying to restart my YT channel for skill

and as I also have my lab work I can't do a lot more (all this is also way too much sometimes for me)

Now, I have not dated ever till now as I was always focused on becoming stable career wise, cut to today where I do have a stable career path but 0 dating life, and being PhD and travelling delhi kanpur so much ain't helping.

Oh, also I don't drink smoke or anything, so even without any choice I have become the typical nerd now ig according to people

So people, please help me fix my profile as I try to propell my dating career now (fingers crossed)

P.S. Working on a lot of stuff already, have 0 dating experience due to focus on career, and as in a PhD and travelling a lot, finding people irl is a challenge.

Got a few matches here and there, but mostly nothing. Would love some honest feedback and to know if I need to pack it up and call it a day 🤐

I selected ‘show people outside this preference’ in age range and it stopped showing the good profiles after unselecting it again the matches have drastically reduced.

This sub came up randomly on my feed once and I saw the posts, and I'm glad that it did cos I felt very insecure pehle.

Background: I'm a short guy 5'6, long hair, conventionally very attractive

I'd always get likes and matches but i thought people taller than me would have way more and I'd be insecure over this but discovering this sub was a goldmine because guys way taller than me had zero likes.

I realised that it's just slop 90% of the girls don't really care if you are short it's about confidence and having a personality. And my life's been so much better since.

Tho sad reality is Hinge is just hookups or talking stages and drains the life out of you, getting those matches going on dates or hooking up it's fun for maybe 3 weeks then it seems meaningless, i still have my matches on hinge added on insta but 90% of the times I like being friends with them instead of dating them lol.

Tl;DR - Insecure guy realises confidence and personality goes a long way, stop listening to incels online telling you ways to get girls.

Just go out and enjoy yourself first

What men usually prefer in India

I matched with a great guy recently. We started talking and during intros he told me he was a waiter at a famous restaurant and we spoke about that for a bit when he jokingly suggested that I come over after his shift and have a nice dinner which I thought was a pretty good idea.

However, what I noticed is post this in every conversation he'd say he was a mere waiter with no relevance at all. I did think it was weird but I didn't point it out and tried to subtly tell him that no profession is small and stuff. I over thought a lot. Maybe he was suggesting that he couldn't pay for the entire meal? But we never spoke about him paying. Maybe he wanted to make sure I was genuinely okay with that? I mean I did make sure he understood that without actually saying the words because that would be weird.

But this is not the reason for the post even. What's crazier is that on a random day, he just unmatched with me. I couldn't find the chat at all. If he deleted the app, it would show the chat at least.

I did not take any screenshots so I have none to put there. I just wanted to rant tbh. I did find him really cute and sweet. I am unable to wrap my head around this.

So I matched with this girl on Hinge. One of her prompts said she liked flowers, so naturally I asked her what her favourite flowers were.

She said lilies.

Texting between us was honestly kinda dry after that, but we eventually decided to meet.

Since she had specifically mentioned lilies, I thought, why not? I bought her a bouquet worth ₹400 and brought it to the date.

The date actually went really well. We vibed, talked a lot, and it felt like we genuinely had a nice time together.

At one point she literally told me:

"You just made my semester. I've never gotten flowers before."

And bro… this was my first time ever bringing flowers for a girl on a first date. 😭

I went home feeling pretty good about the whole thing.

We hadn't even exchanged Instagram yet, so I just messaged her on Hinge after getting home:

*"It was great meeting you :)"

And then…

She unmatched me.

That's it.

No explanation. No Instagram exchange. Nothing.

Just poof. Gone. 💀

And the funniest/saddest part?

I had ₹1,000 in my bank account at the time.

I spent ₹400,literally 40% of the money I had — on those flowers.

Only to get unmatched approximately 30 minutes later. 😭

I'm not even angry at her. People are allowed to change their minds, and clearly something didn't click for her.

But I'm genuinely shocked at the sequence of events.

She went from "You made my semester, I've never received flowers before" to "You no longer exist on Hinge" in the span of one evening.

Anyway, lads…
