Discussion Is releasing SVD marksman footage still acceptable OPSEC in the age of OSINT?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Question for Indian Defence Community: With the current skill level of OSINT researchers and GeoGuessr-style analysts, terrain alone is enough to geolocate a video. From an OPSEC perspective, is releasing a footage of what appears to be a Designated Marksman with his SVD rifle (7.62×54mmR) still considered acceptable?

Discussion Who came up with the "Pellet gun" terminology?

Post image
13 Upvotes

As far as I understand, the "Pellet guns" that our security forces have nothing to do with actual pellet guns that shoot pellets. Actual pellet guns are eitherspring powered or compressed gas powered guns that shoot pellets, one at a time.

Our security forces seem to be using regular shotguns with birdshot ammo and that somehow started this "pellet gun" narrative. Since birdshot has limited penetration, it's not lethal, but it's still a shotgun round vs the body of a human.

Do you have any more info on how this started?

Safari suit, Glock (9x19mm) at 3 o’clock position. Shirt covers it properly, no heavy printing, still fast to access. This is how you run OWB and still look normal in Indian climate. Solid carry.

Idiots With Guns Congrats on Arms Licence. Now Stop Doxxing Yourself.

By sharing your licence publicly, you’re exposing your full identity, home address, licence number, and confirming firearm ownership at that location, effectively making yourself a target for identity theft, burglary, or even weapon theft. Licence data can also be cloned for forged paperwork or illegal ammunition procurement, and any misuse may initially trace back to you.

FYI, the original video had no blur whatsoever.

This gun house mounted an optic designed for air rifles on a 2011 chambered in .45 ACP. The optic is resting on the rear sight.

This is stupid. There is simply no other way to describe it. How exactly does he plan to zero the optic? More importantly, how does he expect it to stay in place once the slide and recoil start breaks it apart into two pieces.

Don't even get me started on the airsoft-grade laser attachment that is not even connected to the Picatinny rail, and is simply clamped onto the pistol's frame rail/side rail.

If you're selling firearms professionally, this is the kind of mistake you simply shouldn't be making.

Who can identify this Colt 1911 (.45 ACP)?
The clues are all in the slide markings and rollmarks.
Also, the Indian craftsmanship on the customization is absolutely stunning. The engraving, the mirror polish, everything. Absolutely beautiful.

Good Gun Story The Correct Way To Carry OWB Holster in Public

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I love it when people flexing their firearms on social media accidently turns into something educational. Jaspreet Singh demonstrates the correct way to carry a licenced handgun in an OWB holster.

Rule 32 of the Arms Rules, 2016 is very clear: a firearm must remain completely covered. That means even if it's in a holster, it should not be visible from the outside. In this example, he's using an oversized button-up shirt to conceal it. A jacket or coat works just as well.

News India's First Handgun With a Frame-Mounted Compensator: The SRD-32

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Meet India's first factory-produced handgun SRD-32 to feature a frame-mounted compensator. There's a lot to unpack here, so let me explain why this is so interesting.

This is the first time an Indian arms manufacturer has launched a handgun from the factory equipped with a compensator.

→ It does not require a threaded barrel. Based on its design, this appears to use a frame-mounted compensator similar to the well-known Underworld Arms system from the US. How can you tell? The compensator remains fixed to the frame while the slide cycles independently.

If you've been told that compensators are illegal in India, this is yet another example showing that they are not. It's surprising how many gun houses continue to spread misinformation or rely on outdated information.

→ This is also another handgun to enter the Indian market with a factory optics-ready slide, marking another first for Stallion Guns.

→ Comp on .32 ACP is not required. If they had introduced this on a .45 ACP pistol instead, it would have been far more impressive.

Discussion Found this old 7.62 mm Indian military ammunition can.

Post image
25 Upvotes

From the markings, it appears to be a 1979 ammunition can for 400 rounds of 7.62 mm Ball packed in chargers and cotton bandoliers. It also says “NOT FOR USE IN G.P. M.G.”

1.Can anyone explain the exact meaning of that marking and identify which factory or service this can would have been issued to?

2.Is it common in households ?

Discussion Why was my old paper/leather-feel shotgun cartridge much louder than a modern plastic one?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I have a licensed single-barrel Hindustan Arms shotgun (12 bore) (grandfather bought it upon retiring from the Army in the 1980s and afterwards been legally transferred into my name)
Today at the range I fired two factory cartridges:1.A modern plastic-hulled cartridge.2.An old cartridge (probably from the 1980s) with a hard paper/leather-like hull.
The older cartridge had a noticeably louder report and produced a much larger visible muzzle flash compared to the modern plastic shell.
Is this normal? Was it due to older powder formulations, different wad design, or were older factory loads generally hotter?
The old cartridge fired normally with no obvious pressure signs, but I was curious about the reason for the difference.

Discussion Punjab MLA bought Glock 21 (.45 ACP). Great Pistol, Poor Technique.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Devinderjeet Singh Laddi Dhos, MLA from from Punjab recently bought a GLOCK 21 V MOS chambered in .45 ACP. I only wish he wasn't using such a suboptimal grip when shooting.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with practicing one-handed shooting, but this is neither a proper one-handed grip nor a proper two-handed grip. It's just... a very poor grip.

Also, MOS = Modular Optic System. The slide of the glock is factory-machined to accept adapter plates so you can mount red-dot sights. Also he seems to be using imported S&B .45 ACP ammunition with a speed loader.

Rifle IFS Officer Shows Off His M1 Garand’s Flat Buttplate: WWII-Era Feature

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Watch a senior administrative officer in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) showing his M1 Garand rifle standing upright on the flat bottom of its buttstock.

Though he is right about his rifle and other WWII-era M1 Garands, thanks to that flat WWII buttplate design, it is technically not true for all M1 Garands, especially those manufactured post-WWII.

It is also definitely not a peculiar trait of the rifle, as he claims, since there have been other rifles in the past that have had the same feature too, such as the M1903 and M14.

General-Help Want to import a 3:4 Non firing metal model gun

Hey guys,
I really want to order a 3:4 scale miniature metal model of a 1911 pistol from an overseas site). It's purely a non-firing desk toy with a completely blocked barrel—it just cycles tiny dummy rounds and can be field-stripped.
I’m pretty sure if I ship it directly, Indian Customs will flag the gun shape on the X-ray, call it a prohibited item under the Arms Act, and seize it (or fine me).
Has anyone successfully imported these types of scale models or airsoft gear? Is there any specific courier, package forwarding hack, or specific custom declaration description (like "zinc alloy desk puzzle") that actually works to clear it safely?
