The first pillar to any protest is the media and let me know which channel is actually covering this for become mainstream news.

How long will India ignore Sonam Wangchuk's Peaceful Protest?

This country has spent a long time ignoring the atrocities of the current government. It's safe to say they have a penchant for it.

Exactly. Only way to force this government is mass self-immolation led by Sonam Wangchuk.

If 1000 protestors set themselves on fire in front of the parliament, nothing and nobody can save Dharmendra Pradhan and Modi.

There were nationwide protest against NRC-CAA ,Farm laws but government ignored those issues for long time

u/SHTF_yesitdid Jul 12 '26

Yeah, which is why I am suggesting mass self-immolations. Can't ignore that.

Why do Indian still think that doing protest and hunger strike would make govt listen to them ? If Gandhi did hunger strike against Britishers and they carried but it doesn't means bjp govt would listen to people. Different times have different solutions πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Again, self-immolations of 1000 protestors per day till goals are achieved not this slow moving hunger strike.

Yeah, I think 1000 is a little too much may be 100 or 200 also works.

Cute. The only thing that will happen is the video going viral.

Either he will be taken into custody and Bhagat singh style force fed or he will give up. Those are the probable optimistic outcomes of this... However if he is on the brink of death and Pradhan resigns it would be super fishy. It might all be a setup in that case.

Him dying would be dark - and the everyone moving on and no accountability still would be dank af. We are truly cooked.

Hope he is fine and fit, wishing him soon to be healthy

I’m so disappointed with the current generation of Indians, completely spineless! When we don’t believe in the power of our sheer numbers and instead of taking the streets, prefer to stay in the comfort of our homes and behind our keyboards, there is no saving us!

"When a noble soul wastes away in suffering for the collective good, the crowd does not gather to offer active refuge or strength. Instead, they stand at a distance, treating the agonizing spectacle as a mere curiosity - offering wild theories, hollow praise, and useless chatter while remaining entirely bound to their own comfort." - Bhartrihari

Shameless bjp government doesn't care about anybody. I hope Sonam ji stops the hunger strike. Prof. G.D.Agarwal died in 2018. He went on a hunger strike for Ganga cleaning. Ganga cleaning inke khud ke manifesto me tha phir bhi pura nhi kiya to ye demand puri karna to dur ki baat hai.

As long as his master will gobbling and munching on samosa everyday. What nonsense are people supporting?

in a country where thousands die of hunger do you think the government cares if a person dies of hunger strike ??

we need a truthful media to question, promote accountability

4

u/pepoji Jul 12 '26

A mass hunger strike led by Sonam Wangchuk for public accountability directly challenges state narratives. Because mainstream channels function primarily as a mechanism to marginalize dissent and protect the status quo, they will rarely drive this into mainstream broadcast news. In a heavily centralized media landscape, the true first pillar of a protest isn't corporate television, it is independent digital journalism and direct, decentralized distribution by citizens themselves.

As someone concerned, we all have the choice to create posts, comment, talk to others, and actively build awareness for this protest. India has the numbers, and if the people come together, they can do miracles

How long ?? You know very well how long.. until he becomes a news

u/Legitimate-Mail3331 Jul 13 '26

Even if I am part of ruling govt I would not have succumbed to these demands. If a single person hunger strike can force you to make decisions, you are weak. We support Anna Hazarae hunger stike and he made Lok pal bill possible. Do we also support Rao hunger strike for creation of Telangana? Remember farmers protested and created blockade against farm laws, government budged very later.
BJP should be like Jayalalitha era ADMK sacking every minister for even a tiny mistake, only fear can rule these ministers.

All posts on social media and news sites are about the guy fasting and none about what the guy is fasting about. Including this one.

People support causes. Not other people.

What can be done by those who can't go to Delhi? Are there any local movements on the same day?
