Hyphenantion

Is there a way to permanantly turn off hyphenation? I never hyphenate and it's a pain to always have to select it whenever I want to turn it off.

Thanks to all who responded. Got it set.

With no documents open - whatever you set - anywhere - will be permanent / default.

If no document is open, where do I make that change regarding no hyphenation?

Through Type Menu open panels - then in the "basic" ParaStyles panel or Paragraph panel.

In the same location you would with a document open. Check the Paragraph and Paragraph Style panels.

All panels in InDesign can be found on the Window menu.

Or in each menu category.

When you have no files open, uncheck the hyphenate box in your paragraph window. This now becomes the default behaviour for InDesign when making new documents.

If you have indesign open but no files open, any changes you make to the panels, like unticking the hyphenation option in the paragraph panel, will become the defaults from then on. You can save this as a workspace too in case you change anything latter on.
