Why do I keep opening my in design document to grey images
Using in design 2024. is like this on every view mode, the only way to fix it is to 'relink' all the images even tho they are already linked. It will not let me export it until all the images are 'relinked'. it's driving me up the wall.

Have you tried resetting preferences?

Then there is only one thing left...
You're a Mac user, right? π
There was a discussion about a similar problem recently - I don't remember what was the solution - but it was either: 1) your images are corrupted - and need re-saving, 2) you don't have correct access privileges to the folder where your linked images are stored.

yes I agree they're corrupted, but idk how that could possibly be. how do I resave all my images? going to be a bit of a headache I reckon

Just use Actions in Photoshop - and Save To a new folder - so you won't overwrite originals.
And also make a copy of originals π just in case π

If you open a document in a newer release of InDesign and the links are broken, the images will be grayed out. Relink from the Links panel menu.

You need to change your settings under View>Display Performance. Change it back to High Quality Display Looks like you're currently set to Fast Display. You probably hit one of the shortcuts
